As an integral part of SALT’s engineering team, the Scrum Master will work on a small, versatile and passionate team. You will tackle new problems as we continue to push our industries forward. Your contributions will allow you to coach agile team members who write mission-critical code that enables us to achieve our goals.

RequirementsWhat you will do:Scrum Master

  • Understand basic fundamentals of iterative development
  • Understand basic fundamentals of software development processes and procedures
  • Understand the value of commitments to delivery made by a development team
  • Understand incremental delivery and the value of metrics
  • Understand backlog grooming, tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, and task definition
  • Guide the team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values
  • Assess the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization
  • Remove impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment
  • Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis of healing and problem solving
  • Facilitate getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work
  • Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution

Project Management

  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Report and escalate to management as needed
  • Successfully manage the relationship with all stakeholders
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation

What you need to be successful:

  • Experience playing the Scrum Master role for at least one year for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory
  • BS Degree, preferably in the fields of computer science or engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Proven working experience in project management in the information technology sector
  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development and web technologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Google Docs and/or Microsoft Office Knowledge of Smartsheets or other project management tools
  • First level Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I)
  • Knowledge of Jira (and preferably Aha! as well)
  • PMP / PRINCE II certification is a plus
