Role Purpose
The Programming Director for Art and Lifestyle categories manages the digital content strategy for our painting, drawing, photo, papercraft and creative home DIY categories. The ideal candidate has deep editorial and/or video programming expertise within one or more of these content verticals. You must have a clear point of view about how to build and support a diverse content portfolio and arrange that content for maximum impact, engagement and retention. The Programming Director will manage a team of Content Editors, while collaborating with the production team to program and create a range of content, both short and long-form video and text-based, for the Craftsy site, our YouTube channel and in NBCU TV show integrations. This role will also partner broadly across marketing, eCommerce and Strategic Partnerships teams to develop and promote content.

Responsibilities

● Lead a team to program long-form and short-form video content for our art and lifestyle verticals, designing approaches to maximize video consumption, engagement, retention, and a la carte class revenue
● Develop strategies and seize opportunities to create crave- and binge-worthy content for our users ranging from deep instructional content to edutainment
● Distinguish between audience subsets in a given vertical, understanding what’s core for each and designing content to support those varied constituencies
● Lead cross-functional teams to pitch new content formats, frames and structures to support business objectives and new business models
● Support marketing and merchandising goals and objectives to speak authentically to our audiences
● Serve as a category resource throughout the organization
● Collaborate with Strategic Partnerships and NBCU to ensure that category-specific partnerships and integrations are smoothly executed
● Develop talent management strategies, and look for opportunities to develop, leverage and expand our talent pool

Basic Qualifications
● A record of innovative and bold editorial and/or programming strategy at a media company, network, SVOD provider or subscription website
● Minimum 3 years' experience acquiring and developing editorial and/or video talent and content
● Creative thinking and an endlessly curious mind
● A knowledge of or passion for creative DIY categories
● Strong and supportive management skills
● Success working in highly collaborative environments
● A record of elevating and developing colleagues and direct reports
