Key aspects of this role include (1) co-owning the product strategy with the CEO, (2) creating an exceptional user experience, and (3) growing and managing a top-notch team. The ideal candidate for this role will have a top-notch resume of leading teams in highly successful product organizations. This position requires an in-person presence in Denver, CO.

WHO WE ARE

Nymbl’s mission is to mobilize older adults to age well. We started with a scientifically-validated digital balance training program that prevents 35% of injurious falls and is loved by older adults with an 81 NPS score. Now that we’ve demonstrated market-leading engagement and results, we are expanding into other areas of older adult health that will deliver life-changing outcomes to our users.

At Nymbl, you will work alongside a passionate team that values:

  1. Putting older adults first
  2. Winning when high performers collaborate
  3. Holding ourselves to outcomes
  4. Acting quickly with open minds
  5. Inviting joy

You’ll have the opportunity to make an impact that will change the lives of older adults and their loved ones on a daily basis.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS VP PRODUCT

1. Lead the Product Vision and Road Map

  • You work with the CEO and other key executives to ensure a robust product vision and road map is set and adhered to. A great product leader should be able to work with the CEO on company strategy and own the product road map.

  • You use the product vision to drive and inspire the company and sustain the company through ups and downs.

  • You think in generational leaps, not incremental improvements.

2. Think Strategically and Articulate that Strategy

  • You lay out a compelling product strategy that includes a strong understanding of:

    • who our customers really are

    • what it means to win in our market

    • how to differentiate us as a product and company (staying on top of the competition, knowing what’s noise and what needs a response)

    • how to build compelling and remarkable products for our customers.

  • You keep the team focused on the customer and the market.

  • You understand the current state of your product, current investments in knowledge and technology, and work to leverage these.

  • You articulate the product vision and why it’s important, both internally and externally.

  • You talk to customers every week in a methodical way, uncovering opportunities & building lasting relationships.

  • You bring real-world customer input to company strategy meetings.

3. Execute

  • You know how to get things done and have absolutely proven this ability.

  • You establish and demand tight, clear metrics, understanding that you will be fired if you don’t hit these targets.

  • You work closely with engineering to make time/feature tradeoffs quickly.

  • You sweat the business’ overall success. Are you missing key segments, or being outflanked by new competitors, or stuck in an old business model? What are the important (cross-product) decisions that will drive longer-term revenue?

4. Create and Empower a Professional Product Management Team

  • You recruit experienced product managers who have overseen multiple stages of the lifecycle of high use products, and who have shipped products at scale.

  • You empower PMs in your organization to work effectively and get things done.

  • You build programs to train and support new PMs, ensuring that you have proper mentoring and training to support new PMs.

  • You manage headcount, consulting spend and execution, software/tools cost, travel and entertainment, professional development, and more in a stage-appropriate manner.

5. Set Cross-company, Best-practice Product Management Processes

  • You are the central spoke in communicating with, integrating feedback from, and pushing back on design, engineering, sales, marketing, clinical, customer support, and other functions. You build deep relationships and are able to work with many different functions and personality types effectively. You collaborate across functions to develop something together that individuals alone would not come up with.

  • You develop processes needed to run product development efficiently, prioritize product decisions, and launch products. You ensure adoption of these processes by the broader company.

  • You know how to validate ideas cheaply - looking at data, talking to users, setting up tests, building paper prototypes, etc.

  • You build a strong product culture, helping the team to understand the importance of continuous and rapid testing and learning. You understand that you need to make mistakes in order to learn, but you need to make them quickly and mitigate the risks. You understand the need for continuous innovation. You know that great products are the result of true collaboration.

An Insider's view of Nymbl Science

How does your team reward individual success?

At Nymbl we live by our values every day, using them to make difficult decisions. One of our values is to invite joy, and a part of how we do that is by celebrating successes, both at an individual and team level. We believe we win when high-performers collaborate, so we foster that behavior and hire the right people to add to our culture.

Kori

VP Customer Success

What's the biggest problem your team is solving?

When older adults fall, they lose quality of life. We help them reduce the risk of falls by training reflective balance. That foundation unlocks the ability to participate in more active, larger lives. The cool thing about being part of being part of the engineering team is how directly we can map the work we do back to the mission.

Karl

Senior VP of Engineering

How does the company support your career growth?

Nymbl uses 1:1s as a great starting point to talk with your manager privately and openly about personal goals and potential blockers to achieving them. These meetings support a growth plan you build with your manager. Nymbl also has a book club where we learn together and share those learnings with the team.

Stacy

Digital Marketing Specialist

What is your vision for the company?

Nymbl will empower older adults to lead thriving, independent lives. We are the market-leader in fall prevention outcomes, and we have bigger ambitions in 2023 to develop additional experiences that solve key health issues that restrict the lives of older adults. When an older adult has a question about aging, I want them to think of Nymbl first.

Ed

CEO

What's something quirky about your company?

All the snacks in the office.

I love our hybrid office system. If you want to work at home most of the time, you can. If you want to work in the office specific days, you can. Not feeling it today, work at home. It’s really helpful in today’s world of never ending things to do.
