Invitae is dedicated to bringing comprehensive genetic information into mainstream medicine to improve healthcare for billions of people. Our team is driven to make a difference for the patients we serve! We are leading the transformation of the genetics industry by making genetic testing affordable and accessible for everyone to guide health decisions across all stages of life.

As part of Invitae, Ciitizen’s mission is to empower Earth’s 7+ billion citizens with control over their healthcare data and thereby their health. Current patient portals fail to provide this, surfacing minimal data for specific providers only. While provider-led interoperability initiatives attempt to mitigate these issues, they often still fail to piece together a patient’s full history.

The truth is, only patients have the ability to ensure their data is fully captured. At Ciitizen, we embraced this early and developed all of our technology and processes around this simple fact. As a result, patients on Ciitizen are able to easily access their *full* medical history in a format that’s universally shareable and usable (i.e., semantically interoperable).

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly talented data product manager to own both product discovery and delivery for our core data platform. The data platform is where we refine all incoming data into rich, standardized, research-grade datasets. It consists of a mix of modern data pipelines, data stores, microservices, and machine learning models. As the Senior Product Manager, you’ll collaborate closely with our Clinical Data and Clinical Operations teams – who are the users of the refined data created by the platform – to find opportunities to improve data quality and scalability. You’ll also work closely with our Engineering and Machine Learning teams to optimize the design of the pipeline and ensure the roadmap reflects an optimal mix of high leverage, needle-moving features and incremental improvements.

Ideally you have past experience building clinical data platforms and appreciate the challenges clinical data presents. Likewise, you have a visceral understanding of just how transformative this data can be to the industry when properly structured and normalized to standards like SNOMED, RxNorm, and LOINC. The ultimate goal of this role is to increase both the scale and breadth of our data platform so that we can service all patients across all therapeutic areas in the U.S. and around the globe. Achieving this ambitious goal will require a large degree of tenacity, creativity, and passion for clinical data.

This role is tied to our Palo Alto, California office but can be worked 100% remote.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with clinical operations, clinical data, engineering, and machine learning teams to develop a roadmap that will deliver on our vision
  • Translate product strategy and roadmap into releases with measurable milestones
  • Develop product specifications comprising concrete and measurable success criteria, functional requirements, and non-functional requirements
  • Partner with engineering to deliver features that meet a high quality bar reliably and often
  • Leverage quantitative and qualitative data to discover and prioritize opportunities
  • Regularly assess the success of past releases to determine if desired outcomes were achieved
  • Engage often with Clinical Operations, Clinical Data, and Engineering to ideate and co-develop solutions that are valuable, usable, feasible, and viable
  • Lead and coordinate changes across multiple microservices and upstream/downstream teams
Requirements:
  • 6+ years’ product management experience owning data platform components and modern data pipelines
  • Solid technical background including proficiency with SQL
  • Consistent record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle
  • Strong problem solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
  • Excellent people and management skills to interact with colleagues and external parties
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with clinical data transport standards (e.g., CCD, HL7, FHIR) and content standards (e.g., SNOMED, RxNorm, LOINC) preferred
  • Intermediate proficiency in Python preferred
  • Past experience in ontology and terminology management preferred

Invitae offers a competitive total rewards package, which includes healthcare coverage, 401k, and a broad range of other benefits, outlined below:

  • Health, dental, vision, short- and long-term disability, and basic life insurance coverage
  • Paid time off, holiday pay, parental leave, and other health and wellness supports

At Invitae, we value diversity and provide equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. We will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the requirements of the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.

Collaboration between functional groups is key to the Logistics team's success at Invitae. How do you empower your team to be more creative?

Creativity requires a break from the routine and the screen. Here at Archer the team gets creative through walks to the food trucks, lunch runs, climbing gym sessions or a few end of the week craft brews. Some of our best algorithms were developed or refined on the climbing gym mat.
