We are looking to hire a driven and talented Product Owner who will raise the bar for our team, helping us create innovative products for our customers. Ideal candidates have a strong background in software development, product management, agile methodologies and building software in the cloud for a global audience.

This is a high impact role on a small, agile team.

This role is located in Denver, Colorado and requires eligibility to work in the United States without need for visa sponsorship.  Applicants who are outside the Denver Metro area and ready to relocate are welcome to apply, but local candidates are preferred.

Position Summary

Beatport Product Owners are responsible for gathering business requirements from cross-functional stakeholders, then guiding the vision of what needs to be built, and conveying that vision to their agile team and business partners. You will help define acceptance criteria for stories and validate they are met. You will effectively manage the product backlog, delivering a prioritized set of stories for the product. As the Product Owner you are responsible for delivering roadmap concepts and maintaining the products.

This individual will develop business requirements, meet with stakeholders, document process flows, create wireframes and visual markup in partnership with UI/UX team, write product specifications, facilitate release cadence and lead projects through development, QA, UAT and release. We are looking for a digital thought leader that has a strong grasp on best in class website UI design, digital trends, and the competitive landscape to inform the product vision. This person will also be responsible for conducting pre/post launch analysis to measure the success of a project and identify additional optimization opportunities.

Responsibilities Include

 

  • Defining, prioritizing, and grooming work backlogs for engineering teams
  • Own and prioritize the backlog for a feature area in collaboration with the Product Manager
  • Prioritize tradeoffs, clarify requirements and work to drive user stories to acceptance throughout the agile development lifecycle
  • Working with Stakeholders to better understand the features and user stories, decomposing them into tasks for developer consumption
  • Participate in sprint planning, review, and retrospective ceremonies
  • Coordinating cross-team delivery, managing dependencies, and working with program managers to allocate resources
  • Ensure acceptance criteria are clearly defined and verify that story implementation matches requirements translating business requirements into user stories for the development teams to implement 
  • Maintain constant communication with the team, being available to answer questions and provide refinement to user stories
  • Translate engineering tasks to business value for product stakeholders
  • Create objectives, strategies, and apply data to help inform and make business decisions leveraging data (web analytics, industry data) to inform prioritization
  • Possess a fundamental understanding of end-to-end customer experience, along with a basic understanding of system integrations and dependencies to implement scalable solutions
  • Create and test digital prototypes, mockups and other rapid iteration techniques
  • Versed in conducting consumer research and usability studies to inform digital customer experience design decisions
  • Forward thinking and exploring emerging digital trends 

Requirements

 

  • Minimum of three years experience in agile and scrum management
  • Minimum of three years of experience working in an engineering department, including a minimum of two years of experience in e-commerce or online retail
  • Strong understanding of website standards, usability, site design, and ecommerce
  • Excellent communication skills, including experience presenting to senior-level audiences
  • Strong leadership skills and proven ability to collaborate well across functions and departments, to work as part of a team, and to lead teams in achieving goals
  • Experience managing many projects simultaneously to successful execution
  • Familiarity with the music industry and DJing
  • Experience with website localization for multiple languages, currencies, regulations and industry standards
  • Experience implementing personalization on a digital platform
