The Campspot product owner is a key project stakeholder. We are looking for a candidate who can precisely identify our vision for feature development and product improvements, and then clearly convey that vision to the development team and guide them through execution of that vision.

As the liaison between the development team, business team and end-users, the product owner must collaborate closely with all groups and have a firm understanding of the business domain and the varying needs of different types of users.

Product Owners manage the backlog for a development team. They refine stories for upcoming development cycles, and require insight from other Product team members to truly understand business problems and prioritize work accordingly.

Exceptional product owners show commitment by doing whatever is necessary to build the best product possible – and that means being actively engaged with their teams.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead Agile team(s) in prioritizing work, gathering requirements, design, developing, implementing, and supporting new or existing features and improvements to the application

  • Formulate and define system scope and objectives based on user needs and thorough understanding of business problems with varying levels of complexity keeping compliance requirements as part of design

  • Partner with developers, business partners, and end-users to understand business processes and concepts

  • Be an advocate for needs of customer and translate to business objectives and requirements for the rest of the company

  • Participate and contribute to the full software development life-cycle including release to Production

  • Be passionate about technological trends in the reservation management market with the ability to leverage them in driving innovation and educate others on how they can be used

  • Managing the team in finding integration solutions to complex challenges and helping the entire team meet it commitments

  • Provide technical guidance and consult concerning business implications of application migration efforts

  • Identify and address cross-project dependencies and impacts

  • Identify risks/issues in a timely manner and appropriately mitigate/escalate

  • Lead brainstorming sessions to come up with, and prioritize, user stories and product requirements

  • Develop test plans, manage bug fixes, deliver on sprint/journey/epic timelines, and monitor analytics to identify user experience

 

Skills

  • Agile development experience to rapidly create software and manage product roadmap

  • Understand voice-of-customer and translate it into meaningful products, features, and services

  • Knowledge of software development process - Back-end server, hosting, etc.; Front-end web design, interactions, etc.

  • Communication skills to be able to translate customer needs to technical requirements to business outcomes

  • ability to develop an effective product strategy, actionable roadmap, and working business model

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent military experience/training in Product Management, Computer Science, Marketing, Engineering, Business Administration, Healthcare or related field

  • 2+ years’ experience in product management, product development, or related field

  • Experience with agile development

  • Self-starter with strong analytical, prioritization, problem-solving and negotiating skills

  • Ability to identify, manage and track dependencies across multiple initiatives and teams

  • Technical proclivity to learn new systems / technology for future incorporation or integration to the digital experience

  • Experience working both independently and collaboratively to solve problems and deliver high quality results in a fast-paced, unstructured environment

  • Experience participating in design, build and testing of system solutions

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in product management, product development, or related field
