Product Management Principal
The Product Owner for IHS Markit’s Upstream Insights Group will work with an Agile Team and is responsible for representing the needs of our Clients and the markets they serve. As Product Owner, you are responsible for understanding client workflow requirements for Upstream Insights The Product Owner will play a meaningful role, working with Product Managers, in defining user stories, prioritizing the backlog and streamlining the execution of program priorities while maintaining conceptual integrity of deliverables for the team. You will implement rigorous product management practices and pave the way for future and ongoing product growth across a multitude of partners.
General Job Duties:
- Responsible for documenting market requirements to support customer workflow problems
- Represent clients’ interests in the delivery of new product implementation and ongoing product management initiatives
- Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends best practices
- Assist in the establishment and management of rigorous processes and for the frequent, reliable and release of Upstream Insights at IHS Markit
- Define and prioritize epics, user stories, enabler stories and improvement stories in the backlog, providing clear articulation for team planning, estimation and sequencing
- Participate in the development of story acceptance criteria and support acceptance test-driven development, including validation that delivery complies its Definition of Done (DoD)
- Lead team demonstrations to program partners and assist in the preparation for retrospectives
Specific Job Duties:
- Coordinates with other Energy product teams and IHSM BLs to exploit synergies and opportunities to share technologies and/or integration of products
- Prioritizes new content, enhancements and eliminations to reflect senior management’s direction in priorities and informed analysis
- Act as Subject Matter Expert on products within Upstream Insight business line, and these products’ place in customer workflows
- Interacts with members of product development, sales, customer care support, and directly with customers to provide and resolve any issues that may arise
- Leads internal training to ensure a good level of understanding across customer care teams
- Participates in customer focus / advisory and or user groups
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent)
- At least 3 years of Agile/Scrum and digital workflow solutions product development experience
- Experience in upstream oil and gas
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum as Product Owner or Business Analyst
- Experience in a client-facing role in a B2B product environment
