Job Requirements

 

    As a Director of Product Program Management, you will utilize strong management and technical competencies to set objectives and develop strategies for subordinate level managers.   You will manage people who lead cross-functional teams that are focused on the delivery of NetApp products from design to release for customers. 

    This role will be responsible for managing and optimizing the Product Lifecycle process to integrate with engineering agile goals while driving upstream and downstream cross functional dependencies.  You are responsible for setting program goals, plans and schedules, closely monitoring program execution, driving issue resolution and accepting the responsibility for ensuring successful achievement of program goals. 

    Essential Functions:

    ·Design, develop and implement operating policies that ensure the operations effective achievement of objectives.

    ·Develop and approve exceptions to policy tied directly to area of responsibility.

    ·Work collaboratively with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives.

    ·Participate in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs and people within your area of responsibility.

    ·Develop budgets for approval and assure adherence once budget is approved.

    ·Utilize previously technical, project management, and people management experience to actively lead strategic regional and global projects. 

    ·Control of planning, staffing, budgeting, and managing expenses.

    Requirements:

    ·Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, especially presentation skills.

    ·Excellent analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and organizational skills are required.

    ·Excellent knowledge of product lifecycle, tools, processes, and operations planning.

    ·Demonstrated experience working with hardware and software development engineers on complex projects.

    ·Strong understanding of engineering principles and practices.

    ·Prior experience with developing budgets and controlling costs.

    ·A demonstrated ability to manage professional level employees. 

    ·Proven track record of surpassing objectives and delivering exceptional results.

    Responsibility and Interaction:

    Responsibility

    • This position is responsible for managing a major segment of work within a broad functional area for a large country or countries, or global geographic area.
    • This position directs and controls the activities of a group with significant content, product and/or project outcomes.
    • The focus of this role is on translating functional strategies into operational plans and priorities.  May develop functional strategies.
    • The potential impact of decisions made by this individual has significant operational or financial impact on the overall success of the function or company outcomes.
    • This individual will use in-depth knowledge to solve issues that are complex in scope, and establish medium to long- range plans.
    • This individual is accountable for managing to assigned budget.

    Interaction:

    • This individual must demonstrate strong leadership skills by establishing clear goals, objectives and priorities that communicate the organization’s vision.
    • Works with Senior Management and Vice President level employees addressing issues across companies and functions.
    • The position reports to a Senior Director or Vice President.

    Education

    • A minimum of 7 to10 years of experience as a people manager is required.
    • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent experience is required. A Master of Science Degree in Engineering, or an MBA is desirable.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, critical projects is required.
