Why this role?

As Director of Product Design you'll shape and own the UI design vision, experience strategy and be responsible for leveling up the product user experiences across our core products and services. You will lead and guide a 5-person product design team to collaborate with colleagues in Product, Engineering, Data, Marketing and the Business to conceptualize and actualize product roadmaps into usable, useful and delightful product experiences.  The Director of Product Design will be responsible for all user experiences across desktop, mobile and native app experiences.  They have a passion for design excellence expressed through thoughtful user centered product experiences.  We appreciate design leaders who are builders, curious, humble, think deeply, speak clearly and thrive on collaboration and feedback.

In this role, you'll be responsible for:

  • Fostering collaborative relationships with Product, Engineering, Data, and Marketing to deliver human centered, industry-leading product experiences across Dice's products and services
  • Leading a team of Product Designers focused on user experiences, information architecture, interaction models, developing Dice's design system and accessibility
  • All phases of product design work: distilling research, ideation, design reviews, prototyping, final spec design and implementation
  • Championing and cultivating a culture of user-centered design through every touchpoint in the customer journey.
  • Simplifying complexity by breaking down problems, facilitating the problem framing, and solutioning with product and engineering leaders that solve the right problems, and build the right solutions that make an impact on users and the business
  • Shipping well-designed, high quality experiences for users of a two-sided marketplace across web, mobile and native platforms
  • Translating customer, product, business and marketing requirements and research into best-in class products that modernize Dice's users experiences that drive user awareness, engagement and conversion
  • Establishing and iterating on a product design process that ensures we deliver the best outcomes for customers
  • Raising and owning the quality bar on product experiences to know when perfect is the enemy of good

For this role, we're requiring:

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience recruiting, hiring, retaining multi-disciplinary design team, and structuring the crew to best fit the needs of the business and ensure the best outcomes
  • Demonstrated effectiveness of partnering with product and engineering leads to align on the right things to execute on.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently with multiple tasks, projects and manage a team to do the same.
  • A product builder who has worked closely with engineering and has strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced professional environment.
  • A strong leader who excels at storytelling, influencing strategy and ensuring alignment on the best user experience.
  • The ability to front end code CSS and HTML a strong plus to understand the perspective and constraints of the engineering team in order to spec the work effectively.

Education, Experience

  • Human-centered UX design leader with 7+ years of experience leading product design teams within a consumer facing, product development organization
  • Hands-on leader with at least 5 years of experience designing products across multiple platforms for a two-sided marketplace that serves equally weighted customers.
  • BA degree or higher in HCI, Computer Science, Interaction Design, Psychology, Anthropology or similar with combined work experience with human factors training

Compensation

Base salary/pay of $120,000 – $234,000 per year, plus 15% annual bonus at 100% of plan targets tied to company and individual performance. Offer will depend on location and level of job-related knowledge, skills, abilities and experience.
