We're looking for an experienced Director of Competitive Intelligence to join our next-generation endpoint security team and help us win in a highly competitive market. This is no back-room, stuck-behind-Google type of job. We need someone who can drive a strategic, cross-functional team that will propel us in the marketplace.  The work you do will have an enormous impact on our business and our products, first and foremost helping our sales and channel teams continue to win.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the security industry, coming with an understanding of the market, the products, and buying patterns. The Director of Competitive Intelligence will drive a high-functioning, cross-organizational team to gather, analyze, and distribute intelligence about our competitors, working directly with sales teams, product teams, customers, and partners. Your team's work will provide insight to everyone from executives to individual sellers, helping the company win deals, informing product roadmaps, and making strategic decisions.

What You'll Do

  • Manage the cross-functional competitive intelligence team, including direct headcount within marketing as well as resources in product management, sales enablement, and threat research
  • Conduct first-party and third-party research with customers, prospects, sales teams, and partners, including surveys & interviews, win/loss analysis, and other tactics for raw data collection
  • Develop and drive meaningful, hard-hitting competitive narratives across the company
  • Work with Carbon Black's technical competitive specialists to deliver regular competitive product briefings
  • Produce quarterly competitive reports based on deal patterns as well as competitive market changes
  • Work with our sales engineers to design a competitive proof-of-concept (POC) template
  • Develop effective sales tools and enablement materials backed by evidence (presentations, battle cards, news flashes, training)
  • Be the go-to competitive expert for sales teams through formal training and ad-hoc opportunity development
  • Oversee the process for handling competitive inquiries from the field

What You'll Bring

  • 8-10 plus years' experience in B2B product marketing, technical product management, competitive, or sales engineering in enterprise software. MBA preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in the cyber-security field and a strong understanding of the buyer
  • Prior people management experience
  • Proven track record of managing large, strategic projects with a cross-functional team
  • Fluency in competitive strategy leveraging both product/technology as well as business/selling processes
  • Passionate about groundbreaking technology, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter who truly enjoys working in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
  • Assertive team player, ability to positively influence without direct authority to drive deliverables.
