About the Role

As the Director of Data & Analytics (D&A) solutions, you will be responsible for two key areas:

  • Product Management, implementation and commercialization of OrthoFi’s data, reporting and analytics platform, which includes product-specific reporting solutions, client-focused dashboards, and internal data delivery.

  • “Productization” of Data Science-driven solutions and algorithms that are incorporated back into OrthoFi products.  

You will establish the data platform that will be the foundation for OrthoFi’s go forward products.  This includes key activities such as data acquisition at scale, normalization, data governance and data access.  The Director will be responsible for gathering and prioritizing requirements for the solution, designing the technical architecture in collaboration with the Development team, owning the product development backlog, and collaborating with internal and external customers, vendors, and cross-functional teams.  This includes operational reporting, data insights and data analysis for our internal business units.  

You will also own our emerging machine learning tools and strategy to drive operational automation and predictive insights.  This includes defining the monetization strategy for future analytical products, and managing our data science resources.

The ideal candidate will have experience working within greenfield business and technology projects.  This includes building high performing teams spanning data management, data infrastructure, reports/dashboards, and analytics.  You must thrive in a work environment that requires strong problem-solving skills and independent self-direction, coupled with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication. This is a leadership role within the product organization, and will report directly to the VP of Product.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide Visionary Energy: Be the thought leader that defines the vision for the Data strategy within OrthoFi and establishes a data platform for growth.

  • Champion Insights:  Enthusiastically help our company, clients and partners find valuable insights in the growing data sets available to us.  

  • Grow & Manage People:  Identify, hire and engage talented, customer-centric team members.  Provide regular, frequent, constructive and direct feedback to help employees excel and their job and their craft, navigate their desired career path.  Conduct retrospectives to constantly learn and improve your team.

  • Motivate:  Set challenging team goals and demonstrate persistence and motivation to achieve high levels of success.

  • Plan and Prioritize:  Organize team members, set realistic timelines, and set the direction and priorities across the BI and Analytics portfolio.

  • Exhibit Sound Judgement:  Make timely and data-driven decisions.

  • Manage Change: Manage change through transparency and effective communication.

  • Manage P&L:  Be the business leader who provides direction, owns the unit P&L, and provides strategic recommendations to fuel future growth opportunities leveraging our data platform for OrthoFi.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or Information Technology.  

  • 10+ years of recent product and technology leadership experience with focus on data acquisition, software products, and technologies that drive the delivery of services to customers.

  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to evolve product strategy based on research, data and industry trends.

  • Experience in conducting build/buy/partner analysis.

  • Demonstrated technical proficiency and effectiveness working with or leading Software Engineers, Architects and QA.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive successful execution of complex and enterprise level technology solutions.

  • Polished communication skills including ability to deliver persuasive presentations to senior executives, partners and customer stakeholders.

  • Excellent critical thinking skills to make good decisions in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration or Engineering is preferred.

  • Experience in the healthcare service and/or technology industry, particularly focused on healthcare analytics.
