The Senior Staff Software Engineer - AI Platform Security, Crypto Core will lead the architecture, cross-team-development, and delivery of various security development features including AI Agent Security & Workflow Security for various agentic models, LLM & context security, cryptographic services foundational to the security of our platform and applications, Identity with IAM, IAG with unique proposition that this Tech leader is expected to drive and deliver in workload, machine & service identity needs for ServiceNow AI Security Platform. The role also focuses on technical leadership on access controls that need to be architected and delivered uniquely with a combination of machine + human identity (and other innovative ingredients not mentioned here). The role also owns secure key management, certificate infrastructure, enterprise-wide encryption capabilities, credential and secrets management, and the client libraries and Kubernetes services that make it all secure, observable, and reliable.
This technical, hands-on architect and subject matter leader will partner cross-functionally with product, infrastructure, and information security teams to deliver secure-by-design services that are scalable, auditable, and built to meet the demands of a modern enterprise and develop products in security that cover all ingredients above. The role is based in US (primary region - Santa Clara, CA) and will coordinate cross-geo team to deliver while being a technical liaison across multiple stakeholder groups to make security fundamental & horizontal deliverable.

For positions in this location, we offer a base pay of $217,500 - $380,700, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location. We also offer health plans, including flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) Plan with company match, ESPP, matching donations, a flexible time away plan and family leave programs. Compensation is based on the geographic location in which the role is located and is subject to change based on work location.

Job Description
What you get to do in this role:
- Architect, deliver hands-on, mentor & review other team members and deliver on timelines with all dependencies and innovative needs thought out, coordinated with cross-team stakeholders.
- Work with product management, design, support and other dev teams to create high-quality solutions
- Produce high quality design and code on aggressive deadlines of shared UI components
- Provide guidelines and mentoring application teams on how to implement and design UI components
- Design & implement comprehensive UI/UX solutions by understanding customer problems, product goals and technical requirements
- Collaborate with design and platform teams to deliver engaging and consistent user interfaces
- Participate in all technical aspects of team deliverables, including quality, performance, maintainability, and scalability
- Communicate technical decisions (architecture and design) to business and engineering
Qualifications
To be successful in this role you have:
- 10+ years of experience in designing & implementing user experience and server-side application frameworks
- Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact on the function or industry.
- Deep knowledge of cryptography, PKI, key/secrets management, and distributed systems.
- Proven success managing and scaling backend platform teams and services.
- Experience with HSM technologies like Thales CipherTrustManager and PKI infrastructure like EJBCA
- Experience architecting and developing in areas including Identity, Agentic Security workflows
- Knowledge of Authorization, Workflow Identity needs in AI area for future innovation, crypto-core, certificate LCM and secrets management for the scale needed for areas in Access Controls, Outbound Security etc with use cases including AI agents
- Ability to work with architects cross-team and have end-to-end use case & test case visibility
- Exceptional Java and JavaScript skills
- Deep knowledge and experience with declarative meta-data driven frameworks for enterprise applications
- Deep knowledge of AJAX, JSON, HTML, XML, CSS, REST and associated technologies
- Knowledge of web user interface unit testing, profiling, and code tuning
- Exceptional problem- solving skills
- Self-starter with a quick learning curve
