The SolidFire Performance Engineering Team is seeking an individual who is passionate about using the latest technologies and analysis methods to find innovative ways of pushing systems to their limits.  As a Performance Engineer, you will work as part of a dynamic, fun and growing team responsible for analyzing and optimizing system performance as part of the product development cycle.  Within the Research and Development function, the overall focus of the group is on building solutions to exceed competitive market and customer requirements, supportability, technology advances, product quality, product cost, and time-to-market.  Performance Engineers focus on enhancements to existing products as well as new product development.  

This is a great opportunity to work on a high-powered team delivering an industry-changing product within an extremely high-growth sector of the tech industry.

Responsibilities include:

-Test and analyze system performance through a range of hardware/software configurations and operating conditions

-Construct systems to verify product capabilities and benchmark in simulated production-like environments

-Analyze data using Python or shell scripts to characterize system behavior and identify performance bottlenecks

-Contribute as a member of project teams developing new software features or integrating hardware components

-Collaborate with platform and software engineers in fault isolation, root cause analysis, problem resolution, and driving performance improvements into the system

-Partner with customer facing teams to understand use cases

-Support customer escalations related to system performance

Job Requirements

Additionally, you have:

-Ability to characterize and troubleshoot performance-related issues at the operating system, storage, network, hypervisor and application levels

-Solid understanding of Linux including kernel, device driver, file system, and/or hardware considerations affecting performance

-Knowledge of enterprise IT system architectures

-Excellent analytical skills and the ability to solve complex problems

-Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to clearly present complex technical issues

 

Bonus Skills:

-Software development skills in Python or C++

-Knowledge of distributed systems

-Experience using synthetic workload generators such as Vdbench, FIO, or IOMeter

-Knowledge of storage and networking protocols such as iSCSI, Fibre Channel, and TCP/IP

-Knowledge of statistics and using statistical packages such as R or Pandas for analyzing datasets

-Experience writing database queries

-Knowledge of network engineering

-Experience with Jira, Confluence, and other Atlassian tools

Education

-Minimum of 5 years of experience is required; 6 to 8 years of experience is preferred.
-Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, other STEM field, or equivalent experience is required.
-Demonstrated ability to have successfully completed multiple, moderately complex technical projects.
