About the Position

Youtopia Health is central to Youtopia’s ability to drive measurable health and wellness outcomes for Youtopians. We currently have an exciting opportunity for an exceptional leader to join Youtopia Health. The VP of Optimizing Health with Precision Nourishment you will be responsible for managing multiple interrelated projects as we develop the Youtopia Health business unit. Salary for this position is $140,000 - $175,000 depending on experience. The VP of Optimizing Health with Precision Nourishment will lead the following team:

  • Director of Nourishment Optimization 
  • Director of Human Performance Assessment & Education
  • Director of Bioinformatics
  • Director of Behavioral Sciences 
  • Director of Laboratory Sciences
  • Director of Medical Services
  • Exponential Chef 
  • Content Experts including:
    • Nutritional Expertise
    • Wearables/Integration Expertise
    • Genetics Expertise
    • Lifestyle Medicine Expertise
    • Disease/Nutrition Expertise
    • Biotoxins Expertise

As our VP of Optimizing Health with Precision Nourishment, you will:

  • Partner with experts in personalization, machine learning, and ranking across Engineering, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Medical Services, and Design to define innovative approaches while leveraging the power of Data, AI, and ML.
  • Oversee usability considerations, including physical, cognitive, social, and organizational aspects of human factors that influence performance while interacting with Intuitive products.
  • Continuously translate business, scientific, and analytic requirements into actionable data, annotation, and infrastructure specifications.
  • Drive the process of streamlining/standardizing data access, quality control, management, and working closely with Data Scientists/Strategists, Medical experts, and others.
  • Oversee sequencing and companion diagnostic projects and process improvement.
  • Align the nine human foundational factors around a shared mission and vision furthering care integration goals. 
  • Develop and execute holistic data/infrastructure partnership strategy throughout product development lifecycles - e.g., to enable algorithm training/validation, test product performance, address key clinical/commercial questions and evaluate deployment opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain functionally integrated project timelines and ensure accurate inputs are provided by all functional leads. 
  • Identify, leverage, and support cross-functional teams by navigating complex modality-specific challenges (highly diverse data acquisition standards, highly dynamic and innovative internal/external data landscape) and mitigating interdependencies and risks.
  • Develop product strategy roadmaps
  • Tackle challenging, complex problems that play a central role in how customers find, search, navigate and receive recommendations to create an industry-leading human performance experience. 
  • Guide the process of identifying meaningful use cases from conceptualization through post-launch, ensuring that input is considered throughout the process and supporting decisions when tradeoffs need to be made.
  • Advocate for a data-driven culture and support the long-term value creation through the development of outstanding data science capabilities in the areas of predictive modeling, record linking, graph modeling, and neural networks.
  • Contribute to technical discussions, help translate questions into data science problems and find cost-effective solutions.
  • Keep internal stakeholders engaged and informed of progress and potential risks.

  • Working knowledge of multidisciplinary functions involved in product development (e.g., data science, informatics, clinical science, and biostatistics).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and apply new tools for the integrative analysis and visualization of multi-dimensional datasets.
  • Understands the requirements to successfully deploy technology in a health and wellness organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively communicate with a wide range of internal and external audiences.
  • Proven track record of building algorithm-based products at scale (serving millions of customers).
  • Proven leadership track record

  • Nutritional and medical technology, bioinformatics expertise.

Required experience and education:

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Life Sciences, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or other quantitative disciplines. 
  • At least 15+ years of project management experience in a biotech, healthcare, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or clinical research organization environment developing programs from inception to deployment.
  • Minimum 10 years of post-education experience working with cloud-based research infrastructure.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience leading the development and implementation of novel methods and bioinformatics tools.
  • Relevant experience in molecular biology, immunology, bioengineering, human computational biology, statistical genetics, or related fields.
  • Deep understanding of disease biology in one or more therapeutic areas.
  • Experience building, mentoring, and leading technical and scientific teams.
  •  Experience in advanced analytics, AI, and machine learning projects
  • Experience working with bioinformatics and companion diagnostic programs from the diagnostic or pharma side.
  • A strong knowledge base of health and human performance and diagnostics.
  • Previous bioinformatics leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience in Machine Learning applications in genomic or biopharmaceutical research is a strong plus.
  • Prior experience in discovery research or translational medicine would be an asset.
