Job Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the EVP of Wireless Engineering & Operations, the VP, Head of Automation, Tools, & CI/CD will be empowered to build and operate all aspects of the Automation Framework within the Wireless Organization. DISH's 5G network vision is built around a continuously updated, highly-automated system utilizing cloud-native technology. This role will be responsible for defining and establishing the short-term, medium-term and long-term automation frameworks as we expand our wireless footprint.
Responsibilities

  • As the VP, Head of Automation, Tools, & CI/CD, you will be responsible for building a portfolio of Automation Tools spanning across Wireless Infrastructure, Core, and RAN
  • You will be in charge of an Automation Product Roadmap in line with the broader goals of DISH Wireless' long-term architecture and vision
  • You will be a problem solver, a critical thinker that will look at everything from an automation angle and how to reduce/remove manual inefficiencies in our development and deployment processes
  • You will be owning the complete CI/CD Pipelines and will ensure our vendors comply with the prescribed Cloud-Native principles that ensure a smooth operation & execution of the pipeline as part of our standard operating model
  • You will look at enhancing and accelerating our Radio Deployment by taking responsibility for automation frameworks like ZTP and ensuring all our partners are compliant to the maximum possible extent thereby enabling very rapid deployment of our Radio Sites across the country
  • You will be tasked with defining a set of KPIs around how the automation process is improving our efficiency within various workstreams
  • You will be the key person responsible for selecting vendors and partners that we want to bring in to help solve some of the problems in the Automation Area where in-house solutions don't make sense
  • You will help us rationalize the pros and cons of the approach and provide the final guidance from an E&O Perspective
  • You will generate, organize, manage, and oversee the execution of the automation pipelines and create a dashboard that helps us monitor the progress of the network build and quality over a period of time
  • You will also own the overall tools portfolio as it relates to Deployment & Test Automation within DISH Wireless


Skills, Experience and Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science and/or electrical engineering with 12+ years of experience in wireless telecommunications
  • Experience with Automation Frameworks in Cloud-Native environments preferably in the Telecommunications Industry
  • Looking for individuals who have hands-on experience building the automation and CI/CD frameworks
  • The ideal candidate would be comfortable presenting deep technical details and articulating the problem statements as well as solutions in a clear and concise manner to the working level as well as at the C-Level
  • The candidate will be able to provide verifiable sources of their work in the automation, tooling, and CI/CD space
  • Must have working/domain-level expertise in the AI/ML space
  • Must be an expert at OSS/BSS, Assurance Platforms, and have a deep understanding of things such as Service & Platform Orchestration, Network Slicing, Digital Asset Management, and Data Platforms and Analytics
  • Passion for working on new technologies in a fast-paced and evolving environment
  • Able to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization
  • The individual must be an accomplished industry leader with a specialized skill set to help build & transform networks
  • The individual must possess strong business acumen & will understand the budget & financial aspects of running a large Wireless Organization
  • Exceptional analytical skills
  • Must possess a very deep understanding of telecom principles, including familiarity with 2G, 3G, LTE, and 5G Core technologies
  • Experience integrating and testing a complex software stack
  • Experience and familiarity with Public Cloud (AWS) are highly desired


Salary Range
Compensation: $130,000.00/Year - $198,250.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location. Candidates need to successfully complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check.
