Position at Funding Circle US

US Chief Risk Officer
Location:
Denver or San Francisco

Who are we?

We want to help small businesses win. That’s why we’re here.

We connect small business owners to investors – to create jobs, support local communities and power economies – because we believe that people are made to do more. And we want to help realize their goals.

So, we created the leading small business loan platform. Investors have lent $13.1 billion in 130,000 loans to 90,000 small business owners. In a single year, this lending unlocked 115,000 jobs and contributed $8.4 billion to the global economy. There’s never been a better time to join!

Be part of the team that changes everything. Let’s build the place where small businesses can get the funding they need to win and leave a legacy behind, forever.

What will you be doing?

  • Your role will be to lead the risk function for Funding Circle in the US and help the US Managing Director develop SME lending activities in a sustainable way. In the current economic environment, you will have great responsibilities to guide business growth whilst steering the loan portfolio through the crisis.
  • You will be a senior leader of the broader Funding Circle organisation and a key contributor to shaping the company strategy, developing the company culture and be a role model of the Funding Circle values.

  • You will collaborate with the Product and Technology teams to maintain and improve our infrastructure around risk systems, loan originations, and collections
  • You will be a key partner to the Capital Markets team, supporting the interactions with external investors who conduct due diligence on FC asset or enquire about the performance of their investments
  • You will represent Funding Circle in various interactions with third parties – regulators, investors, partners, vendors and help position the company as a trusted party

About you

  • Typically, 20+ years’ experience in credit risk management gained at specialised lenders, retail banks or consulting outfits with a strong record of sound risk decisions and successful credit performance. Small business lending experience is preferable.

An Insider's view of Funding Circle

What’s the vibe like in the office?

What attracted me to Funding Circle was more than creating a better funding solution for small businesses. It was the people I would get to work with and the value alignment I was looking for. A company that lives it's values through every decision and interaction is what I believe creates success. It's exciting to see that in action every day.

Jen

What's the biggest problem your team is solving?

Product needs to find the best solution that benefits both the customer and the business - in a way that scales. We address pain points and increase points of delight for the user, then innovate via cross-functional teams to grow the business. My roadmap has initiatives to find ways to attract and say yes to more small businesses.
