The role

As a Systems Engineer focusing on requirements, you will be instrumental in demonstrating the thoroughness and rigor of our engineering process. You are responsible for ensuring our products are developed within a process that results in end-to-end traceability of functional safety and product requirements. You will help set the performance requirements that ensure our systems operate smoothly, then support designing and performing the tests that validate that performance.

This role will report to the Lead Systems Engineer. In this position, you'll be working as part of the product development team to create safe and reliable autonomous mobile robotic systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a flexible and durable requirements architecture
  • Design requirement definition processes and frameworks, including traceability to design validation / verification activities
  • Champion the requirements architecture and process and inspire the domain experts embrace that approach
  • Support the development teams with implementing systems engineering processes
  • Define and manage system and subsystem requirements that ensure product robustness and safety while accelerating autonomous vehicle development
  • Decompose high level safety and product goals into detailed engineering requirements for autonomous vehicles
  • Understand the underlying technology that enables our autonomous systems, including the challenges inherent to that technology, to inform the structure and content of the system requirements
  • Support functional safety analysis and activities
  • Collaborate with the test engineering team to create test plans and test cases that validate system performance, then support execution of those tests
  • Review deliverables from 3rd party suppliers for compliance with system level requirements

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field
  • 3+ years of experience developing and maintaining requirements
  • Experience working autonomously while maintaining communication with stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise, and verifiable requirements
  • Experience with hazard analysis, functional decomposition, validation, and verification
  • Familiarity with standards such as ISO-26262, MIL-STD-882, and IEC 61508
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Self-starter profile with creative and critical-thinking capabilities 
  • Sterling references

Ideal qualifications

  • Foundation in system engineering principles such as requirements definition, formal verification and validation methods
  • Applied experience setting up and maintaining a requirements verification tool
  • Autonomous vehicle experience
  • Experience in automotive system design or test, specifically with electromechanical & software systems
