The Senior Systems Engineer resolves escalated service issues, coaches other System Engineers/Administrators on how to bring issues to resolution, and designs, engineers, implements, documents, and hands-off completed complex projects. He/she is also responsible for maintaining and overseeing overall technology. The Senior Systems Engineer is expected to resolve the highest-level technical issues.

Essential Responsibilities (includes, but is not limited to):

  • Designs, engineers, documents, hands-off, trains, and supports assigned projects to the operations team
  • Designs and supports all environments owned by Internal IT
  • Provides administration and support to LAN/WAN resources, routers, firewalls, and security systems
  • Provides engineering and administration support to Azure Cloud Infrastructure, O365 environment, Azure AD, Azure AD Dynamic Groups, Microsoft Intune, routers, firewalls, and security systems; implements Cloud-First Infrastructure
  • Performs network assessments, security audits, internal systems audits, and reviews
  • Works with Director of IT to engineer projects, identify new products and solutions, and research solutions for new systems deployment
  • Documents maintenance for all systems, and cloud, on-prem, and network infrastructure
  • Keeps internal customers and Director of IT informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages
  • Coaches other Engineers and System Administrators to help resolve service issues
  • Sets up, tears down, and thoroughly documents internal POC environments for the purpose of testing internal efforts
  • Thoroughly documents and trains when handing off projects to the Operations Teams

Ideal Skills, Experience, and Competencies:

  • Thorough understanding of Microsoft on-prem and Cloud technologies
  • O365, Azure, and Azure AD engineering and administration experience
  • Design, engineering, and administration of SSO Infrastructure
  • Engineering and administration experience with the following: Microsoft Intune (Windows, iOS, etc.), Telephony (RingCentral, inContact), Cloud printing solutions, LAN (Ubiquity, HP Aruba, Cisco Meraki), Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, Yammer, OneDrive, Planner, Power BI, Delve, Video, Sway, Radius and VPNs, and Private Virtualization Technologies
  • Thorough understanding of router and switching technologies
  • Router / Firewall and Administration (Ubiquity, Cisco, Forcepoint NGFW)
  • Office 365 PowerShell, Azure PowerShell, Azure CLI scripting experience
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of the ITSM Framework
  • Thorough understanding of Windows Autopilot, Helpdesk solutions (such as Zendesk, ServiceNow, etc.)
  • Thorough understanding along with engineering and administration experience of Security Software (e.g., Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam, Anti-Spyware, Anti-Phishing, security Scanners and other Security software and technologies)
  • Engineering and administration experience with Microsoft Security, Compliance, Device Management in relationship to Alerts, Monitoring, Reporting, Classification, Policies, Data governance, eDiscovery and other features

Required Education & Certifications:

  • B.S./B.A. degree in a related field of study; or equivalent work experience
