CA Technologies is seeking an experienced, self-motivated, passionate Sr Systems Administrator to join our team in Boulder, CO or Cary, NC who loves to solve big problems and who doesn’t settle for the status quo.  If it makes our systems faster, more secure, and scalable we want to hear about it.

Because we are an Agile company you won’t be working in a silo.  Candidates should have broad experience in system administration, network operations, some coding experience, build and release engineering, performance engineering, and site operations.

Key Responsibilities

●    Partner with developers, architects and the business to optimize the integration and delivery of existing and new services.

●    Enable autonomy in development teams through the creation and delivery of valuable self-service and automation capabilities.

●    Work with developers and product owners to lead operational readiness throughout the SDLC.

●    Pair with other engineers to promote skills enhancement and knowledge sharing.

●    Take ownership and be accountable for processes and applications.

●    Resolve complex business issues through hands-on technical solutions.

●    Resolve issues through self-research, peer group networks, or discussion forums.

●    Focus on strategic outcomes for the organization.

●    Keep up with latest technology trends and innovations around SaaS architecture/technologies and other infrastructure technologies.  Participate in relevant technology forums.  Research and comprehend new SaaS products as well as 3rd party applications.

●    Participate as a project team member and work on project implementations.  May take on project lead role as required.

●    Give and receive information such as options, technical direction, instructions, and reporting results. 

●    Provide daily operations analysis, support, troubleshooting and maintenance of systems, hardware, and software. Monitor proactively to provide stable, dependable services. Execute operational jobs and activities to successful completion. 

●    Modify, maintain, and update services. Manage end user accounts, permissions, access rights and storage allocations in accordance with best practices regarding privacy, security and compliance. 

●    Manage the load of configuration of platforms and systems and make recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks. 

●    Implement system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.  Maintain tools that support and automate processes for service release.

●    Participate as a project team member and work on project implementations.  May take on project lead role as required.

●    Perform 24x7 on call duties as part of team rotation, and scheduled/unscheduled off-hours work for maintenance and emergencies.

●    During times of emergencies, outages, and project planned work, be on call and available until the event is addressed or the roll out of the system is successful.

●    Assist and train junior team members.

●    Effectively work with end users and provide good customer support.

●    Perform other job-related duties as assigned. 

Business Travel and Physical Demands

Business travel of approximately 10 or less percent yearly is expected for this position.

Physical demands:

●    Office environment. No special physical demands required.

Preferred Education

Bachelor's Degree or global equivalent in Computer Science or related field. Master's degree or global equivalent a plus.

Work Experience

Typically 5 or more years of IT administration experience.  Demonstrate proficiency for core IT Administration functions and possesses in depth knowledge and expertise/knowledge across several IT environments.



Skills & Competencies

●    Experience supporting large scale, highly available, service-oriented, distributed production systems.

●    Very strong Linux system administration experience.

●    Strong understanding of best practices around release engineering.

●    Familiarity with SaaS, PaaS, IaaS tools and vendors.

●    Experience building production hosting environments from bare metal up.

●    Expertise with multiple hardware and OS platforms.

●    Exposure to different types of data storage.

●    Advanced scripting skills in Python or Ruby.

●    Experience with container-based solutions including Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift.

●    Experience with automation tools including Ansible, Chef, Git, Jenkins, Rundeck.

●    Knowledge and experience in one or more technology/language/application (e.g., ATM, MPLS, Wireless, IPV6, SSL, IDM, Java, security suites, automated network configuration, SaaS, C++. Java, XML, Windows, Linux, Unix, EAI, Middleware, SOA) method, and approach and expanding to become fully versed on all including emerging technologies, methods, and design considerations. 

●    Collaborative skills to resolve problems, clarify or interpret information/policies, and provide initial screening/negotiations.

●    Strong written & oral communication skills are essential.
