If you want the best of the startup experience (ability to make a significant contribution, fast paced, full transparency, tight knit team), but with the added stability of our progress (profitable company, seasoned leadership), then look no further. You will dive into code Day 1 and contribute to bug fixes, improvements, and new features. Over time, you'll be responsible for major parts of the product. You'll be a leader, influencing our architecture, software quality, stack, and direction as a company.

About you:

You should consider yourself a "generalist" but be well-versed in Rails, Javascript, and frontend HTML and CSS.  You have strong confidence in your ability to pick up new skills be it code or otherwise. Ideally, you have worked in an agile team or at least well-versed in the concepts. You also possess great communication skills such that we would not hesitate to send you alone into a customer support or sales meeting.

This is a senior position and we expect candidates to have several years of experience shipping and maintaining production-level code. Having said that, we don't care if you're self-taught or have a PhD in Computer Science - so long as you can demonstrate experience beyond personal/hobby projects.

The basic stack:

  • Ruby on Rails
  • PostgreSQL
  • Javascript
    • VueJS
    • ES6 via Babel
    • Webpack
  • Infrastructure managed w/ Ansible:
    • CentOS servers
    • nginx, unicorn, Redis, Sidekiq
    • Combination of DigitalOcean and AWS

Our ideal candidate has:

  • A strong background being a 'full stack engineer' from database to frontend code to sysops
  • Mastery of the Rails framework and ecosystem
  • Ability to write complex SQL queries and then optimize them
  • Familiarity with both functional and object oriented development patterns
  • Strong habit of maintaining thorough test suites and thinking through edge cases
  • Passion for working with cross-functional teams that may include Sales, Marketing, and Customer Support
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior developers

Bonus points for:

  • Dev-ops experience with Chef, Puppet, Ansible, and/or Docker
  • Familiarity with Lean Startup concepts
  • Product management experience
  • UI/UX design skills

What we can offer you:

  • Competitive salary and equity compensation
  • Tons of leadership opportunities you will truly help grow our product and company
  • Mentorship from the founder, our world-class investors and advisors
  • A fun, down-to-earth, get-things-done startup environment, with lots of freedom and flexibility
