Sr. Director, Carrier Relations

Position Description
The Sr. Director, Carrier Relations is responsible for managing all aspects of the vendor relationships for Zayo. This includes managing the business relationship, vendor selection, expansion, and identifying areas for growth. Sr. Director, Carrier Relations is also responsible for delivering improvements in contract terms; provide analysis, and direct negotiations with senior decision makers with vendors. Organization will serve as central point in organizing and facilitating Zayo’s vendor contracting and cross-functional efforts to manage/improve vendor performance. The position is responsible for developing and overseeing a coordinated, collaborative and integrated vendor management process that engages and supports all product group leads.
Responsibilities
- Management and performance monitoring of all Type II (NetEx) related vendors.
- Management of NetEx spend, ensure vendors are at or under market rates to ensure Zayo remains competitive.
- Development and execution of a robust vendor management program for all of Zayo.
- The vendor management program will include responsibility for the development, documentation, implementation and maintenance of vendor management processes, standards, and metrics tracking.
- The role is accountable for all activities associated with effectively building and maintaining external third party partner/vendor/outsourcing relationships.
- Responsible for establishing and monitoring the Vendor Service Level Agreements (SLA) against contract terms for primary vendors and business partners.
- Ensures vendor compliance to agreement terms and conditions, company policies, standards, etc.
- He/she may serve as the primary liaison between legal, project leads and other key stakeholders in the contract negotiation process.
- Leverages agreements, and consolidates multiple agreements to improve pricing and increase efficiencies.
- Maintains agreement repository/history and applies record retention rules in accordance with company policy.
- The Sr. Director will work with the Product Groups and participate in the development of strategic sourcing strategies and vendor relationship management strategies for all aspects of all Product Groups.
- The Sr. Director will provide recommendations on in/out-sourcing decisions and selection of alternative vendors.
- Interface and work with the Accounting Department to ensure vendor compliance with Accounting standards.
- Lead the review of the bid and quote processes, vendor selection, and contract preparation.
- Facilitates the resolution of escalated vendor-related issues.
- Drives ongoing process improvement to deliver increasing operational efficiency in all business partner processes.
- Supports budget cycle by providing vendor-related information.
- Compiles and analyzes trends that affect budgetary needs.
- Reduction of network expenses.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or equivalent training and work experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of work experience in supply chain and vendor management.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in change management.
- Experience working with Financials, and analytical reporting.
- Experience that demonstrates the ability to work independently, troubleshoot and perform corrective procedures and meet inflexible deadlines; perform both routine and non-predictive multiple tasks; and handle customer conflict to a successful resolution.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills sufficient to defuse intense situations negotiate resolutions and enlist support and assistance from others.
- Computer skills including experience using spreadsheets, word-processing, database programs and typing.
- Ability to apply current processes and policies in all aspects of the job by acquiring and becoming proficient in Zayo’s system of interrelated procedures, data entry and record keeping.
- Ability to apply learned principles and processes to solve everyday service issues and apply problem resolution techniques to solve a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form.
- Ability to resolve moderately complex customer issues and to effectively interface with a customer while researching an issue.
- Experience negotiating contracts and agreements with vendors and service providers in the high technology industry.
- Experience in Purchasing and a thorough knowledge of transactional buying.
- Technical and Engineering Department business experience is considered a plus.
