The Opportunity:
As a member of our platform team, a software engineer will play a critical role in deploying, configuring, maintaining and monitoring our microservices, especially as it relates to our usage of Kafka. Our platform is growing rapidly and we're committed to leaning on Kafka to support many different messaging and integration needs. We're quickly adopting Kafka Connect across our engineering organization and are looking to leverage streaming applications in the near future. Lastly, this will be a collaborative role requiring cross-team communication to understand our use-cases.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Work towards becoming a subject matter expert in Kafka
- Work in an agile environment to manage and operationalize our Confluent Cloud Kafka cluster and related components
- Develop, evolve, and optimize tooling to support the deployment of topics and schemas
- Manage and optimize a Kafka Connect cluster
- Deploy and manage new Kafka connectors and ksqlDB streaming applications/configurations
- Implement solutions to monitor and provide insights into performance of our Kafka integrations
- Assist development teams in proactively identity and address performance and scalability concerns
- Assist development teams to effectively develop, configure and deploy Kafka dependent applications
What We’re Looking For:
- 3 to 5 years professional software engineering experience
- 1+ years of experience with Apache Kafka or Confluent Kafka
- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Experience with or interest in Kubernetes and micro service architectures
- Experience with or interest in Istio and network optimizations
