Why this role?

As Senior Systems Engineer you'll focus on standardizing and championing best practices in the areas of DevOps, CI/CD, application monitoring, source control, tagging, artifact storage, and platform metrics in the AWS cloud. You'll be a part of a team of talented, collaborative technologists that are passionate about software development, enjoy the Agile culture, and like to release new product features often.

In this role, you'll be responsible for:

  • Championing the continued evolution of DevOps through collaboration with Architecture and Engineering to increase scale, automation and adoption
  • Designing, developing, and implementing software in support of our engineering teams deploying applications in AWS
  • Providing templates and reference implementations of CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, and AWS CodeBuild
  • Providing guidance on defining and establishing custom application metrics through collaboration, documentation, and automation
  • Collaborating with Architecture and other team members to define standards, facilitate implementation, and apply engineering best practices
  • Designing and developing Continuous Integration pipelines, for both software and infrastructure
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams on availability and performance monitoring
  • Providing administration and application support where needed with Corporate applications
  • Setting up guardrails and tools to ensure alignment of AWS usage with our DHI standards and policies
  • Participating in an on-call rotation, following established incident management, change management and root cause analysis processes

For this role, we're requiring:

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • The ability to work in a team atmosphere
  • Willingness and desire to learn new and different technologies
  • Familiar with Agile development processes preferred
  • Familiar with RESTful API design and development experience preferred

Education, Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Engineering, a related field or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience working in AWS and/or utilizing AWS services
  • Experience working with partners and 3rd parties in integrating with their API's
  • 5+ years of experience with analyzing, designing, coding, building, testing, and deploying application systems in a business environment.
  • Background and familiarity with infrastructure operations support including storage and backup systems, Microsoft 365, and web applications
  • Some exposure in working with public cloud providers and software architecture techniques for working in a public cloud environment.
  • Experience with some of the following technologies or similar technologies:
  • Java or other OO languages, Python, SQL
  • JavaScript, CSS, Angular, Angular CLI, TypeScript, RXJS, SASS, NPM
  • Spring Framework, Hibernate, RESTful Web Services
  • Docker, Tomcat, Linux
  • Git, Gradle, Jenkins, Artifactory
  • Postgres, MongoDB
  • JSON, XML, YAML

Compensation

Base salary/pay of $100,000 – $195,000 per year, plus 10% annual bonus at 100% of plan targets tied to company and individual performance. Offer will depend on location and level of job-related knowledge, skills, abilities and experience.
