Your Role
Are you an analytical thinker? You enjoy delivering innovative solutions? A Linux Cloud infrastructure engineer is required to support the Hosting and Cloud infrastructure engineering function. This role within the Linux Solutions Delivery organization is responsible for all delivery, configuration, and optimization of the company hosting and cloud, platforms and services, prior to operational hand over. You will contribute and make an impact towards automating and delivering IHSMarkit customer facing products and partner with the business on delivering world class solutions.
Your Team
You will be working as part of the global Linux Solutions Delivery Team. The global team works with product and development teams to deliver robust, stable, and supportable infrastructure solutions in a hybrid cloud environment. The scope of the team is very much focused in an agile operating model covering all infrastructure delivery services; including physical servers and virtual machines in our globally dispersed datacenters, as well as both private and public cloud platforms and service offerings, and the evolving Cloud product set. We use flexible working practices to facilitate collaborating with colleagues globally and embrace diversity within the organization.
Your Responsibilities
  • You will use Agile methodologies, tools, and processes within cloud based environments to deliver best in class solutions.
  • You will evangelise delivering hybrid cloud solutions; and bring innovative ideas to the table.
  • You will expand the automation capabilities within our service catalog to improve the time to market of the solutions that we deploy.
  • You will have excellent troubleshooting skills, and be able to assist with low level investigations, performance tuning, and diagnostics.
  • You will design and implement product features and tools for the infrastructure layer of a solution, and tools for the deployment.
  • Site reliability engineering skills. Experience supporting green field software projects and creating environments with strong monitoring, alerting and support solutions.

Your Expertise
  • Advanced expertise in Linux operating systems, specifically experience with RedHat Enterprise.
  • Where required complete system administration tasks including with Linux operating systems, RDBMS, web servers, and other middleware (Tomcat, JBoss, etc.).
  • Experience with configuration management automation tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Chef, etc.
  • Familiarity with traditional Enterprise infrastructure, virtualization hypervisors (eg. VMware), and working knowledge/experience with Cloud architectures - Public (AWS, Azure) and Private Cloud solutions.
  • Experience with Veritas/Infoscale clustering and replication.
  • A background in infrastructure management and design, with proven experience of best of breed solutions for security, scalability and cost management.
  • Implement and deliver key projects and customer hybrid cloud solutions.
  • Support customers in delivering word class technical solutions.
  • Understanding of the network and data transport layers, common protocols, and storage subsystems.
  • Experience/familiarity with Agile working models and Cloud-based environments, tools and processes.

It's a bonus if you also have
  • Some DevOps experience, and knowledge of building/integrating CI/CD pipelines, or deploying infrastructure as code.
  • Excellent written, communication and documentation skills, with the ability to produce low level operational and support documentation.
  • Certifications in technical disciplines pertaining to the required skillset.

  • For work locations in the state of Colorado, the anticipated minimum base salary for this role would be $85,800. Compensation will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the applicant.
