Summary of Responsibilities: 

The Desktop Administrator provides hands-on technical and administrative desktop support for our global team in the US and Europe. As a Desktop Admin at Spectralink you’ll use your expertise in operating systems, business application software and hardware to provide excellent support to our internal team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced level of support for desktop and server hardware, operating systems and applications
  • Maintain and monitor our Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) back end environment (images, software packages, etc.)
  • Assist in the maintenance and inventory of all equipment. Maintain inventory system to help track device types and application licensing.
  • Assist in automating software application delivery through scripting and in maintaining application test lab to test software applications with current Windows 7 and 10 images with required controls, as well as Linux based systems.
  • Proactively update and document knowledge base guides for common problems.
  • Troubleshoot problems which may require in-depth research and testing to identify and implement the solution.
  • Assist with the implementation of new technologies and verify that all procedural documentation is accurate, and that knowledge transfer from the vendor to the IT team is completed prior to any technology being placed in the Production environment.
  • Serve as level 1 support of desktop services utilizing the Helpdesk management ticketing system and utilize change management, problem management and request systems.
  • Analyze data from monitoring systems to recognize trends and create proactive solutions to prevent recurring issues.
  • Assist application teams with assessment of new technologies, application upgrades, and general technical support.
  • Assist with obtaining vendor quotes for upcoming IT Hardware needs which would require purchase of additional hardware and or software.
  • Monitor and report licenses on applications to ensure compliance on a monthly basis.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 5+ years of experience in a client/server environment. May substitute equivalent number of years’ experience with certified administrative training
  • 5+ years demonstrated success in IT or related field specific to requirements.
  • Excellent problem solving and analysis skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues remotely
  • Professional oral and written communication skills
  • Customer/Client Focus
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency to help internal customers
  • Strong background with all Microsoft Server and Desktop products including but not limited to the Office365 suite
  • Strong background in virtualization environments using Vmware and Hyper-V
  • Microsoft SQL server maintenance
  • Broad knowledge of Powershell scripting and automation
  • Skype for Business end user and server management
  • SCCM Integration and management
  • Symantec Backup Exec or another Backup Solution
  • MPLS and PRI Line experience an added advantage
  • Experience with Cisco ASA, IOS, ASDM, Cisco Anyconnect
  • Active Directory, GPO, DFS, DNS, DHCP, replication and inter-site resiliency
  • Experience with Cloud based software and solutions
  • Experience with Android OS based systems and MMI systems
  • Must have the ability to learn new software and hardware packages and adapt to changes in technology.
  • Must be self-starter and be able to use own judgment to undertake activities with minimal supervision. Must be work independently and as a team member.
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all those contacted during work.
  • Must be able to carry lift and carry boxes containing computers components, printer paper, etc.
  • Hours may be unpredictable because of unforeseen problems arising, updates, etc.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required

Nice to Haves

  • MSCE certification is desired but not required
  • CCNA certification is desired but not required
  • IPSec VPN, SSLVPN and OpenSSH is desired but not required
