How You Fit In:

We are looking for a Senior Business Risk and Control Testing Specialist to join our team! This position will primarily focus on executing and supervising testing activities and components of the Independent Risk Testing and Control Validation Program to mitigate risk and ensure that the appropriate level of oversight and accountability is being executed across the enterprise. This position is responsible for supporting business leader adherence to the established risk framework and ongoing supervision of business controls including risk and control self-assessments, identification and evaluation of control effectiveness, identifying control failures, facilitating risk and compliance remediation, internal and external audits and regulatory exams, and monitoring of the first line of defense to minimize risk exposures and strengthen the overall control environment, ensuring the robustness of the Risk program.


This position will report to the Director of Independent Testing work closely with other leadership roles across Reserve Trust.


What You’ll Do:

  • Designs and leads business risk and control testing as part of the defined framework and associated program by reviewing line of business controls, remediations, policies, and procedures utilizing standard testing and validation documentation and tools.
  • Assists with planning and execution of testing against quarterly and annual testing plan by collaborating with Reserve Trust staff, supervisors, managers, and consultants as required to identify gaps in new and existing controls.
  • Performs daily management of testing and validation activities ensuring assignments are complete accurately and on time.
  • Develops and communicates status updates and reports on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, or as-needed basis for the Director of Independent Testing, RT leadership, or Board of Directors (or its committees).
  • Participates in remediation and ad hoc testing/validation as needed due to the closure of findings, issues, and incidents.
  • Independently drafts test scripts and testing documents as well as reports of testing results for review by management and senior leadership.
  • Reviews and critiques testing and validation workpapers of less senior testing and validation staff.
  • Assigns testing and validation work as it becomes available
  • Serves as a mentor for less senior testing staff.
  • Independently reviews the testing documentation and results of internal quality assurance as well as other testers.
  • Challenges the design and operational effectiveness of new and established controls.
  • Identifies areas lacking control coverage and recommends appropriate action.
  • Lead, manage and support testing teams as well as the people development as this role evolves.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but can be replaced by an appropriate level of knowledge and discipline experience.
  • 5-10 years of retail and commercial banking experience, or related industries, along with experience with developing and executing a testing or QA/QC program.
  • At least 3 years supervising experience testing and validation work
  • Comprehensive knowledge of laws and regulations impacting the financial services industry.
  • Knowledge of Colorado state banking laws and regulations preferred.
  • Experience in Risk, Compliance, and/or Audit or understanding of Risk, Compliance, and Audit programs.
  • Expertise with identifying issues using data and observation.
  • Deep knowledge of commercial banking, product development (PDLC), software development (SDLC) in a FinTech or bank environment.
  • Expert level knowledge of testing and experience executing against a defined testing program.
  • Vast experience working the business to improve their control environment.
  • Ability to work with stakeholders across groups and at different levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in a start-up environment or with start-up initiatives a plus.

We feel passionately about equal pay for equal work, and transparency in compensation is one vehicle to achieve that. Total compensation for this role is market competitive, including a base salary range of $95,000 – $120,000. Reserve Trust intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience and location.
