Procurement Specialist (Buyer II)

As a Procurement Specialist on the Hardware Team at Tortuga, you’ll be a key contributor on our Production team, which is responsible for building our robots. You’ll bring expertise in sourcing, buying and vendor management, as well as a strong work ethic, a sense of urgency, and attention to detail. You know when to push vendors at risk of missing their commitments but are still able to maintain strong relationships.

What you’ll do
Drive procurement of material in support of business requirements; procurement activities including RFQ processes, supplier selection, purchase order placement, monitoring shipment and services and supplier performance
Act as a main point of contact for suppliers
Act as point of contact for contract manufacturing partner (CM) logistics to deliver customer supplied materials and track schedule and deliveries of sub-assemblies delivered to Tortuga
Work with our internal team on requirements, need dates, and work to support projects
Ensure that the suppliers are acknowledging orders immediately and accurately within established lead-times
Follow-up with vendors and push them to deliver when commitments slip
Analyze changes in materials and supplies to find ways to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and get alternative items when materials are not available
Execute on quality processes
What we’re looking for
Required: 2-4 years experience in a similar hardware procurement role
Required: Sourcing, buying and vendor management experience - comfortable negotiating with vendors and holding them accountable for commitments
Required: Experience with spreadsheets and ability to create tracking tools as needed for managing orders and providing visibility to other team members
Excellent relationship management skills
Extremely detail-oriented; strong organizational and analytical skills; acute sense of urgency
Strong communication skills (written, verbal, listening)
Ability to understand the financial implications of purchasing strategies and decisions
Experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, specifications, and other technical documentation
Capability to handle multiple projects and priorities
Startup or small company experience a major plus

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of our salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Tortuga’s total compensation package for employees.
Denver area base salary range: $52,000 - $77,000 per year. Relocation assistance is available for out-of-state candidates.
