The Principal IT Systems Engineer role will have a broad range of responsibilities that require in-depth knowledge across multiple domains of enterprise infrastructure, including physical/virtual servers, high availability and clustering, Windows/Linux, networking, and cloud technologies. You will understand and apply a wide variety of concepts, practices, and procedures of enterprise engineering, and will need to resolve a broad range of issues in creative ways. You will take business and management requirements and be responsible for designing solutions and implementing services that focus on automation, capacity, monitoring, and security. You will need to exercise your judgment and use your expertise in selecting methods and techniques for developing solutions.

Responsibilities

• Designing and building scalable and secure infrastructure that will support the ZOLL Data Systems organization.
• Work with leadership team members, decision-makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and system goals and identify and resolve business system issues.
• Perform cost-benefit and return-on-investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions.
• Stay current with industry technologies, evaluate existing systems and infrastructure, identify and advocate solutions for continuous improvement.
• Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure system-related products and services.
• Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
• Design and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes.
• Create and maintain documentation related to system configuration, mapping, methods, and service records.
• Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.
• Maintain existing infrastructure solutions. Perform routine administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Provide proactive, reactive, and escalation level support.
• Provide guidance and assign tasks to/for other IT engineers.

Qualifications

Skills Requirements:

• 8+ Years progressive experience in a Systems Admin/Engineering, or Technical Support role preferred
• Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of technical systems, applications, and related products.
• Proven experience with systems planning, security principles, and enterprise-level infrastructure best practices.
• Excellent communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to interface with developers, engineers, and managers and lead technical solutions to complex business requirements.
• Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
• Hands-on experience with the implementation and administration of the following technologies:
• Active Directory/Azure AD with AD Services (DNS, DHCP, GPO Management)
• VM-Ware
• Cloud solutions such as Azure/O365/AWS
• Functional understanding of networking concepts; routing, switching, firewalls & protocols (TCP, UDP, HTTP, SSL, TLS, SIP, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP).
• Excellent technical written and verbal communications skills.
• Advanced troubleshooting skills and the ability to mentor junior professional staff.
• Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
• Proven analytical and creative problem-solving skills.

Required/Preferred Education and Experience:

• BS Information technology equivalent or related degree preferred
• 10+ years of industry experience preferred
