Principal Engineer, Systems Architecture, Video Compression
This position will be a member of the team responsible for the design, development and implementation of the video technology ecosystem. This position will set the direction of video and compression technologies for the design, development and implementation of the video distribution and delivery, including management of an array of video content deployed on a wide range of consumer devices.

Research, development and design of new and existing technologies for a complex, next generation IP video ecosystem.
Research, design and development of encoders and systems for encoding video and audio for Adaptive Bit-Rate (ABR) streaming, specifically H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC, Apple HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) and ISO/IEC MPEG DASH.
Research and testing of new video and audio compression technologies, including such as AV1, HDR, etc.
Develop and promote industry leading standards for video and audio compression technologies.
Work with set-top box, video player and device to support video and audio compression technologies.
Design and development of video and audio comparative lab and testing environment.
Author formal requirements and specifications documents; work with vendors to develop forward looking hardware/software solutions.
Maintains communication of project statuses and drives for continued improvement in quality and availability of each the systems and product.
Work jointly with the Product development teams to innovate and evolve platform.
Design and develop product instrumentation and test automation.
Work with engineering team to develop test and validation requirements for video and audio encoding systems.
Organize and present research findings for reports and review by management and technical staff in the organization.
In depth technical knowledge and experience with video and audio encoding standards and technologies including H.254/AVC, H.265/HEVC, VP9, AV1, AAC, HE-AAC, AC3, AC3+ (Dolby Digital Plus), AC4, etc.
Experience with Adaptive Bit-Rate (ABR) streaming, specifically Apple HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) and MPEG DASH.
Experience with ISO/IEC, MPEG, SCTE, SMPTE, ATSC and other video standards and specifications groups.
Experience development and support of production systems and experience working within a 24x7 operations environment supporting Linux, UNIX and Windows systems.
Must have experience troubleshooting complex systems using test tools, network management systems and error reporting systems to determine and resolve problems.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, start-up environment and to demonstrate good logical problem assessment and solving skills.

Working knowledge of Internet service operations and digital cable operations preferred.
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree with a concentration in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent experience of five to seven years of systems and/or network administration experience and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
7+ years of industry related engineering experience.
