How you impact patients and practices:
As a Patient Access Representative, you will be a part of a highly engaged and supportive team who is impacting a patient’s ability to receive the highest quality orthodontic care. You will be an Insurance Detective in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 

Within 1-2 Months You Will

  • Go through OrthoFi Training and get to know the company from a high level view.
  • Attend eligibility training to get to know what you’ll be doing on a day to day basis with a goal of learning 1-5 new carriers per week along with phone procedures and carrier portals.
  • Get to know our internal system as well as tools like GSuite, Slack, Jira, and PureCloud.
  • Know your expectations of the Patient Access Representative role.
  • Have your work Quality Controlled (QC) to ensure you are learning the system properly and update as necessary.
  • Express a desire to learn and take accountability for your work.
  • Start your bi-weekly 1:1s with your lead to go over expectations of the role as well as review progress.
  • Have a great team of experienced coordinators to help you answer your questions!

Within 3-4 Months You Wil

  • Learn 5+ new carriers per week.
  • Continue to review and update any QCs.
  • Understand coordination of insurance in instances with multiple plans.
  • Full understanding of insurance network landscape and ability to effectively navigate that network to assist our patients and practices.
  • Have a great foundation of how to multitask between phone calls and carrier portals.
  • Continue to have a great team of experienced coordinators to help you answer your questions!

Within 4-6 Months You Will

  • Be an eligibility expert taking on patients who are the office and need insurance verified quickly and accurately.
  • Maintain a high QA score of 92% or greater as well as exceeding daily output expectations of 50 checks per day.
  • Independently able to verify insurance using all available approaches.
  • Complete work on the Past Due query, JIRAs (Level 1), and assistance with any practice chat as needed.
  • Be another great resource for newer coordinators who are in the beginning stages of learning the role.

Skill Set:

  • Experience with processing medical insurance claims and/or eligibility checks (orthodontic or dental claims management preferred) is a plus.
  • Prior experience managing claims while working as a Front Desk Receptionist or Treatment Coordinator is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and solve poorly defined problems.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills - written, verbal and active listening.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and/or Google Documents.
  • Have the ability to learn and utilize business related software systems.
  • Must exhibit empathy and compassion for patients.
  • Ability to self manage and adapt to change quickly, as well as show a sense of urgency.
  • Strong judgment and decision making abilities.
  • Natural curiosity with a strong aptitude to learn quickly.
  • Very strong technical aptitude.
  • Desire to want to take on responsibility and learn new areas of the OrthoFi system.
  • Have accountability for their own work.
  • High school Diploma required, some college experience a plus.
