Job Description

The Network Admin is responsible for effective installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of IT systems infrastructure. The role will also work with stakeholders in developing the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research & development within the project life-cycle; technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out the solutions.

 

Responsibilities:

Network and Servers:

  • Install, configure and maintain IT infrastructure including, switches, firewalls, routers and wireless devices
  • Install, configure and maintain Windows and Linux servers in the cloud and on premises
  • Manage and maintain AWS EC2 server environment
  • Follow process of onboarding new environments into Conga network and IT systems standards

 

Operations and Support:

  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all network and server hardware.
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
  • Create, change, and delete user accounts per request
  • Provide Tier III / other support per request from various constituencies 
  • Investigate and troubleshoot issues as submitted through a helpdesk ticketing system
  • Mentor and assist your team
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.  Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
  • Serve as a technical expert and escalation point of contact for Desktop Support Analyst and other internal customers
  • Leverage and configure cloud based technologies, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), O365 and Google Apps

 

Maintenance:

  • Apply and monitor OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis
  • Configure and maintain upgrade administrative tools and utilities
  • Upgrade and configure system software that supports infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project or operational needs
  • Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures
  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning
  •  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor (4-year) degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science
  • Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Linux and Microsoft. MCSE or MCITP preferred
  • Six to eight years’ system and network administration experience. Cisco CCNA or CCNP certification preferred
  • Working knowledge of virtualization. VMware VCP certification preferred
  • Working knowledge of MPLS and other WAN topologies
  • Working knowledge of IPSEC Site-to-site VPN
  • Proven experience solving complex problems and making impactful decisions
  • Experience providing instruction to peers within work unit, setting work pace, and possibly evaluating performance
  • Ability to provide advice, technical guidance and recommend actions involving rather complex issues
  • Must be willing to work occasional nights/weekends with minimal notice, and travel as necessary
