Manager of Strategic Sourcing
About This Opportunity
As Manager of Strategic Sourcing, you will be a key contributor to Rachio’s rapid growth, by developing and executing Rachio’s sourcing strategy for both consumer hardware and sustainable lawn and garden products. For hardware, you will manage, plan, and execute sourcing for packaging and select components to optimize our supply chain for flexibility, quality, and cost. For Rachio’s Thrive (consumables) offering, you will obsess over the customer experience, utilizing your sourcing background to evolve each aspect of the physical offering as well as expand the offering into key adjacencies that meet Rachio’s mission and customer needs. This role will report to the Director of Supply Chain and collaborate closely with Rachio’s Supply Chain Manager, as well as Product and Consumer teams.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Define Rachio’s approach to strategic sourcing for hardware and consumables products in support of the supply chain and business strategies
- Establish and implement category strategies to define goals and levers, and drive improved results such as scalability, quality, risk mitigation, and cost improvements
- Use market analysis to establish and maintain a deep understanding of the supplier landscape for critical components
- Implement robust supplier selection processes with a data-driven approach, including leveraging RFP/RFQs
- Lead and support contract negotiations including establishing SLAs that ensure timeliness and quality
- Establish and own the calculation and management of the supplier performance against SLAs, identifying flags to take action
- Execute POs, including coordinated procurement for Thrive bottling and kitting
- Maintain and update BOMs and the revision control process, in coordination with the Supply Chain, Product, and Engineering teams
- Maintain relationships with key suppliers for hardware and consumables components
- Work closely with Product & Consumer teams on initial sourcing for new product introductions. This includes identifying additional revolutionary lawn and garden products and their adjacencies, and evolving the Thrive physical experience (e.g., packaging, bottling, kitting, and application form factors)
- Use research, field trials, and customer feedback data to identify and solution any physical quality issues in different environmental conditions
- Manage the regulatory certification process with consultants and ensure products comply with the regulatory rules of each state in which we operate
- Lead and support sourcing sustainability initiatives
Requirements and Skills
- 5+ years of experience in sourcing or manufacturing operations role, preferably involving a consumer-products supply chain
- Direct experience in supplier relationships and performance management
- Extensive negotiation experience with suppliers
- Analytical with strong, demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking capabilities
- Detail oriented with strong organizational and process
- “Owner’s” attitude, including a willingness to tackle problems through to solutions and an ability to work both independently and across functions
- Exceptional verbal and written communication and collaboration skills at all levels of the organization, including the ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience
- Proficient with financial concepts and their application to supply chain and operations
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems
