Role

GigSmart is seeking an experienced IT Technician to assist on various IT projects and provide technical recommendations for servers, and data networks with a focus on network security. The IT Technician will support GigSmart’s networks, systems and tools that keep the business growing and our information safe.

Job Description

The IT Technician will execute and maintain network solutions to ensure the stability and integrity of our company network services. The IT Tech will work quickly, methodically, and efficiently through projects, assigned tasks, and troubleshooting of all IT related issues.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the health and stability of the infrastructure supporting the GigSmart networks and telephony systems

• Ensure all systems are performing and functioning properly

• Inventory management of all GigSmart tech and office equipment

• Develop network services metrics and dashboard

• Manage all new hire onboarding systems access

• Monitor systems in order to optimize performance and to initiate recovery action after system failures

• Establish and control systems access and security

• Prepare and maintain system layout documentation as well as troubleshooting guides

• Point of contact and responsible for all service tickets

• Coordinate and implement network software and hardware upgrades

• Keep up with relevant technologies, trends, and skills

• Follow legal policies as directed

• Perform other duties as required and assigned by manager and upper management

Skills and Competencies

• Sound understanding of networking principles including switch, routing, firewalls, wired, wireless, security, and commonly used enterprise applications

• Experience with various anti-virus engines, security appliances, and mapping software

• Thorough knowledge of commonly used network protocols

• Experience troubleshooting TCP/IP networks

Educational & Professional Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

• Minimum 2+ years of experience in various data networks and in voice and video infrastructure tools and technologies

• Strong communication skills
