As part of this growing team, ShapeShift is looking to hire the role of IT Support Technician.

JOB OVERVIEW

ShapeShift is seeking an IT Support Technician to help deploy, organize, and manage information technology assets for this growing organization. The ideal candidate will possess a strong “Jack of All Trades” mindset when it comes to technology, and use their vast tech knowledge to assist employees with technology issues. This position offers a unique opportunity to play with lots of cool tech toys, and help people every single day.

As the IT Support Technician, your primary role is supporting ShapeShift employees who encounter issues with information technology. You will work in one of ShapeShift's international corporate offices in Denver, CO to provide technical support to ShapeShift's local and remote staff so they can build exceptional blockchain-based systems that are changing the world with minimal disruption. 

This is a full-time, exempt position, based in Denver, Colorado and reports to the Chief Information Security Officer.

GOALS OF POSITION

  • Provide technical assistance for problems encountered by ShapeShift personnel
  • Assist IT Engineers with research and testing of new systems, configurations, and platforms
  • Maintain inventory of information technology assets at ShapeShift
  • Retrieve metrics and prepare reports of IT data to IT Engineers and management

SUCCESS METRICS OF POSITION

  • Employee support requests are resolved in a timely fashion
  • Statistics, metrics, and related data is gathered and reported accurately
  • Employees leave interactions with you having learned something new, empowering them to resolve future issues themselves

WHAT YOU GET TO DO EVERYDAY

  • Assist IT engineers in maintaining and administering the security of ShapeShift's corporate networks, ensuring staff's devices can securely access ShapeShift systems whether they work locally or remotely, wired or wireless.
  • Provision new computers and devices to staff.
  • Decommission old devices that have reached end-of-life, while ensuring no corporate data remains.
  • Perform light repairs of devices that can be repaired through simple swapping of components, or coordinate returns/RMAs of damaged equipment to manufacturers as warranted.
  • Automate the installation and configuration of software on employee systems.
  • Provide technical assistance to all ShapeShift staff in identifying and resolving technical issues.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce technical friction from ShapeShift staff's daily lives, and make proposals to ShapeShift's leadership for such infrastructure changes.
  • Assist in the selection, purchasing, and return/RMA of corporate IT assets including: servers, managed switches, routers, firewalls, laptop and desktop computers, televisions, and accessories.
  • Maintain digital signage around the office, ensuring meeting room kiosks and television arrays are operating properly and displaying relevant information to those using them
  • Assist in the provisioning and deprovisioning of employee user accounts, coordinating credential resets, and ensuring appropriate permissions are granted/revoked as dictated by business needs.
  • Work with leadership to draft and maintain accurate quarterly budgets for corporate IT infrastructure.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Advanced networking. (DHCP, DNS, VLANs, network switch management, port security, MAC whitelists, IPSEC, network partitioning / quarantining, etc.)
  • Apple expert: MacOS and iOS
  • Enterprise Wireless networking. (WPA2-Enterprise, Captive Portals)
  • Administration of macOS and Linux-based operating systems
  • Ability to work independently while keeping stakeholders updated on project status
  • "Geek to English translator" - the ability to train/teach security concepts to non-security staff in easy-to-understand language
  • Strong "Google-fu" - ability to quickly find and learn concepts that aren't already known

BONUS ATTRIBUTES

  • Experience with GPG / PGP and related encryption systems
  • Experience with Startups, and growing small companies into large ones
  • Coding/Programming knowledge (Python, Javascript, etc.)
  • Agile or JIRA experience
  • Linux Administration 
  • Firewall administration (port and protocol rules, etc.)
  • Authentication and Authorization protocols (LDAP, RADIUS, etc.)
  • CCNA or equivalent 
  • Experience with Network or Software security 
  • Experience with cryptocurrencies and blockchains
  • MDM (Mobile Device Management) Experience
  • TLS/SSL Certificates (CSRs, CAs, PKI infrastructure)
  • OpenSSL-based VPN server administration and client configuration
  • "Jack of All Trades" mindset, knowledgeable in many areas

TRAVEL

Infrequent (0-5%) travel may provide this position the opportunity to attend conferences and market events as ShapeShift and the Security team continue to grow our global presence.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
