The Operations Strategic Support Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from technologies and investments to supply chain, manufacturing and test operations, facilities management, and information technology services.
IT Manager II - Application Services
The ITS Manager II Application Services which includes Application Development, Software Quality Assurance, Business Intelligence, Engineering Systems and Business Systems teams, will report to the Senior Manager, Application Services. This position will be responsible for assisting the Senior Manager in leading the Application Development, Software Quality Assurnace, Business Intelligence, Engineering Systems and Business Systems teams and aligning them with the ITS strategy. In this role, you act as deputy to the Senior Manager of Application Services and part of the Project Execution and Business Solutions leadership team and will collaborate within ITS as well as internal customers and stakeholders to lead the delivery of reliable and robust IT solutions that align with organizational objectives, requirements and timelines. This role requires strong focus on leadership, customer service, exceptional communication, building relationships within ITS and across the company.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide strong leadership, technical guidance/direction and overall management of personnel providing daily support for Financial systems, Engineering systems, Data Analytics and other business support applications. Responsible for ensuring the teams follow stated strategy and objectives.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships within the ITS department, Finance and Engineering organizations, and throughout the company.
- Establish, define and communicate effective roles, responsibilities and associated performance expectations. Position all staff for success, provide coaching, career development, succession planning, forecast staffing needs, provide performance reviews and job assignments.
- Interface with other ITS teams and management to ensure compliance with organizational strategies, standards and security requirements.
- Develop and document the process and procedures for consistent and effective tool management. Responsible for holding personnel accountable to stated process and procedures, with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Supporting Strategic Data Initiatives to include data analytics and virtualization efforts, data governance, and a well-established reporting and data warehousing group as well as selection and implementation of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tool.
- Prioritize and communicate ongoing operations and maintenance activities and projects. Ensure timely and effective end-user support. Serve as focal point and escalation manager for incidents related to areas of responsibility.
- Provide exceptional customer service, clear communication and consistently follow-up on issues and projects as required.
- Coordinate with ITS strategists in evaluating/implementing new technology and communicating potential benefits to Engineering, ITS, Finance/Accounting. Participate in roadmap development for each of the enterprise application areas.
- Support organizational communications with a focus on organizational change management.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets including estimating cost of large ITS projects, capital requests and managing software licenses for enterprise applications.
- Managing relationships with our enterprise software tool providers.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
What You’ll Need:
- BS/BA in related field plus 10 years or more related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.

- Familiarity with A&D industry and associated program execution processes a plus.

- Prior experience implementing and managing a PLM system a plus.
- Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI Clearance.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
- Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Compensation & Benefits:
- HIRING SALARY RANGE: $118,500 - $163,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
