Health Economics Associate Director
The Life Sciences group within IHS Markit provides consulting services to federal and state governments, U.S. and international-based pharmaceutical and medical device companies, professional and trade associations, health plans/hospital systems, and other private and non-profit organizations. The team’s project work often involves using computer simulation models to project health care use, health provider demand, population health outcomes, or other health and economic measures into the future. The team works with other organizations across IHS Markit on projects that span both life sciences and other services offerings (financial services, energy, transportation, chemicals, economic forecasting).
The group seeks an experienced health economist or health services researcher at the associate director level to help lead work in one or more of the following areas both within the U.S. and internationally:
Health economic modeling
Economic burden of disease, value of disease prevention, and population health
Health workforce analysis, modeling and strategic planning
Required Experience:
Advanced degree in economics, health services research, or health-related field
10 or more years providing consulting services to government agencies, health plans, non-profit organizations, and/or life sciences firms
Excellent oral and written communication (in English) and an interest in communicating cutting-edge economic ideas to a non-professional audience
Excellent interpersonal and managerial skills, and ability to work in a collaborative environment
Established reputation with clients
Ability to work under tight deadlines
International experience is highly valued, as is experience working with health plans and hospital systems
The primary responsibilities of the role are to:
Grow the team’s work through business development, project management, and mentoring other team members
Manage and grow a geographically dispersed team of analysts with diverse educational backgrounds and skills
Take the lead on preparing client reports and manuscripts for journal publication
Collaborate with economists and industry experts across IHS Markit to develop client solutions
Take thought leadership externally to grow the reputation of IHS Markit
Office location:
Preferred location is Washington DC, but will consider other metropolitan areas with IHS Markit offices and remote work option
