The Role:

You will be expected to identify and lead internal/external stakeholders and resources to develop projects and milestones that improve the company’s Operations Engineering and our ability to support our growth as a sustainable global brand. You will set direction, outline initiatives, measure progress as needed and work cross functionally to enable a transparent view of parts and finished goods status. You will ensure projects are completed on time with the highest possible quality. The ideal candidate will inspire the team in new ways of doing things that mesh with the future of the company. You will be expected to develop current processes into a set of best practices for the company. The mission of the Ops Engineering function is to enable our future. This position is located at our headquarters in Boulder, CO. Works with the following: C suite Leadership: Operations, Finance, Marketing, Sales. Peers: VP OPS, VP Sales, VP Engr, VP Marketing, Financial Comptroller, Director Product Management, Director Project Management, Director of Materials. One level down: Planning, Purchasing, Department heads in the company across geographies.


  • Management of tactical and strategic, end-to-end Operations Engineering processes and subsections:
  • US: Boulder prototype shop, Printing, Tooling, Distribution/ Configuration, Automation, and Quality.
  • China: New Product Introduction (NPI), Production/ Process Engineering, Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE).
  • Manage supplier product introduction and manufacturing processes to ensure cost reduction, develop sustainable materials and processes, constantly improving quality, closed loop corrective action and strategic direction.
  • Develop a strategic direction and tactical competence for automation as part of our business model in production, logistics, and distribution.
  • Staff, mature, and LEAD the Operation’s Engineering team, and supporting organizations, in the company.
  • Plan Capacity and tooling needs. ROI on capital investments. Organizational structure and staffing.
  • Source Technical interface and day to day management of supply base / suppliers.
  • Work cross-functionally wth engineering and documentation teams on product sourcing, development, and documentation and production.
  • Achieve, track, and improve product cost targets and cost reductions designed by Operations Engineering and Suppliers.
  • Make & Manage supply base / suppliers capacity against forecasts and supporting purchase orders.
  • Integrate suppliers’ needs, processes, capabilities, and venues to determine best sourcing decisions to optimize landed costs.
  • Maintain / improve quality levels. Deliver & Ensure the manufacturing base is structured to enable on time fulfilment. 
  • Returns- Work with the company’s Quality and Support Organization in ensuring closed loop corrective action on field failures. 
  • Systems - Work with Technology and Ecom to ensure the company has the systems and data attributes to analyze sales and products requirements to optimize the functions above.


  • 15– 20 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, including: 7 to 10 years of experience in production in a technical product line.
  • 5 years of experience in consumer products production; preferably in electronics, injection molding, assembly, and test.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills
  • Experience in sourcing with overseas and leading an existing overseas team.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering. An MBA is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of statistical process control, experience in a production environment, experience in injection molding, decoration, and electronic assembly
  • Strong organizational, decision-making skills, and ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.
  • Has to be a decisive and inspirational leader for the group.
  • Must understand enough about engineering the product and making the products to hold your own in a technical discussion internally or externally.
  • Experience in the manufacture of Consumer Products or their parts is a must.
  • Responsible for production, its processes, their control and the people doing the job. This person needs to think globally, sustainably, internally, and externally.
  • PopSockets is a demanding place to work. This person has to “wanna get it done better.” Getting the job will be the easy part. The workforce in the organization, current and future, is and will be, inexperienced. The company needs an able teacher and mentor

Pay range: $140,000 to $180,000
