How you’ll make an impact...
Xero’s Global Verticals team identifies and executes strategies that propel Xero’s growth within industry verticals by identifying differentiating opportunities with core product, partnerships, marketing/advertising and other applicable go-to-market actions.
The eCommerce Industry Vertical Director will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies in each of Xero’s operating regions to establish and grow Xero’s ecommerce presence and proposition through accounting partners, direct to SMB and other third party channels. You will work closely with cross functional resources in our product, partnerships/ecosystem, strategy, sales and marketing teams to accomplish your goals.
In order to be successful, you must provide insight and understanding of the rapidly evolving eCommerce market by acting as an industry expert understanding key partnerships, accounting software functionality and the competitor landscape in this space. You’ll also act as conduit between local sales, global marketing and other cross functional internal teams to capitalize on the opportunity for Xero in the eCommerce vertical.
While the focus of this role is primarily to accelerate growth in the eCommerce space you will also be asked to evaluate opportunities and build best practices for other industries as Xero continues to grow globally.
What you'll do
- Identify and work to establish sales and marketing strategies, in conjunction with global marketing and product and ecosystem marketing teams, for Xero’s eCommerce solutions. This includes work with strategic partners and regional teams to implement plans for growth.
- Act as a global industry expert to Identify and understand Xero’s position with influential brands in the eCommerce space. These may be cooperative partnership opportunities identified and approached in conjunction with the strategic partnerships team, competitive threats or developing relationships for further discovery.
- Provide deep and practical customer-centric eCommerce industry expertise in several key areas:
- Support regional sales leaders and teams to drive more valuable solutions and impact for eCommerce customers
- Work collaboratively with the sales enablement team to develop training programs to constantly raise the industry expertise of the broader team
- Work with regional teams to design, deliver and scale outreach strategies and activities to drive awareness, interest and demand for Xero’s eCommerce solutions
- Build and cultivate relationships with key customers, industry thought leaders, influencers and innovators
- Help drive cross-functional alignment across Sales, Marketing, Product, Partnerships, and other key internal stakeholders, by working closely with regional directors of operations.
- Provide expertise on current e-commerce industry platforms, competitors, best practices and ways Xero can win more often with eCommerce businesses.
- Identify new areas of e-commerce opportunity beyond current organizational thinking.
- Generate and implement new sales and marketing initiatives to increase e-commerce sales and profitability
- Developing and maintaining an independent view of all markets in which eCommerce is an active growth opportunity in the short, medium and long-term for business planning and business development
- Communication across senior leadership, regional MDs and other important stakeholders to establish and grow Xero’s presence within the eCommerce space, globally.
- Working with industry groups to ensure that Xero is at the forefront of the latest technological and digital opportunities for the eCommerce industry.
- Identify important customer experiences that will provide strategic or competitive advantage.
What you’ll bring...
The successful candidate will bring at least 5 years eCommerce industry experience with a focus on business development activity. Ideally you will have experience in product marketing and/or product management roles in a SaaS/technology business working across regions, time-zones and cultures in a complex matrix environment. Critical will be an expert level of understanding of the rapidly evolving eCommerce industry and the technology market, specifically the value of accounting software adjacent to other technologies for the SMB sector. You will bring to the role a deep understanding of enterprise level commercial deal creation, negotiation strategies and international business relationships. With a proven ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams you will be expert in managing multiple internal and external projects to deliver outstanding results.
