Summary

The Director of Technical Solutions is responsible for managing the Technical Solution Engineers and aligning resources to accelerate incubation projects within the Growth team. This leader will be expected to have thorough knowledge of Workiva’s platform, with a specific focus on technical solutioning capabilities - integration, scripting, data transformation and analysis, solution data strategy, etc. - and align with Growth pre and post sales leadership to proactively recommend and implement improvements to the overall customer deployment, user experience, and partner experience. The Director of Technical Solutions will partner closely cross functionally with Growth Solutions, Client Services, Solution Engineering, Partnerships, and Product Management to maximize the value of early stage solutions, and ensure Workiva’s products are represented to their fullest potential.

Responsibilities

Solutions Development: Support Growth Solutions team-wide in the development, delivery, and support of technical solution extensions and optimization of existing solutions

  • Collaborates with solution leadership to understand the business value our solutions bring to customers and optimizes value delivery with technology
  • Works closely with Presales Engineering, Client Services, Customer Success, and Partnerships to automate deployment and support for growth solutions
  • Identifies and develops technical solutions to fill critical early-market product gaps, and aligns with Product Management to ensure a cohesive customer experience and alignment to mid-term product plans
  • Works closely with Growth Solutions Partnerships leader to support technical enablement of Partner-led growth opportunities
  • Partners with Client Services to develop solution-specific best practice guidelines

 

Technology Management: Develop and launch industry and business solutions
  • Becomes a trusted partner to Product, Presales Engineering, and Client Services by proactively advising on solution improvement opportunities, supporting implementation of new capabilities, and continuously seeking to improve the customer experience
  • Develops and maintains authoritative expertise with Workiva’s product capabilities, with special focus on capabilities that provide solution extensibility
  • Works closely with Product as a development partner by bringing real-world tactical perspective from high value commercial opportunities
  • Maintains a high degree of proficiency with modern Agile software development methodologies and best practices
  • Independently conducts ongoing analysis of the respective industry trends with regard to new process improvement opportunities
  • Seeks first to fill solution gaps using mature commercial off-the-shelf technology
  • Develops documentation to support internal knowledge transfer, partner enablement, implementation, and ongoing support of technical solutions

  • Identifies and resolves interpersonal conflicts and resource issues

What You'll Need

Education

  • Undergraduate Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.

Skills
  • Self-motivated with strong propensity for action, results and continuous improvement
  • Ability to work successfully in a high-energy, fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage multiple processes, programs, and procedures simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Understanding of finance and accounting back office systems and data management technologies preferred - Oracle, SAP, Netsuite, etc
  • Awareness of the market dynamics and products in rapidly changing and highly competitive enterprise software and cloud computing industry.
  • Attention to detail, plus analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Positive, service-oriented personality
  • Strong business acumen
  • Strong sense of customer service and proven ability to meet established timelines
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

 

Experience
  • Experience managing technical pre-sales teams supporting business-to-business sales organizations exceed revenue targets
  • 8+ years of software or SAAS industry experience, including 5 or more years in sales engineering or technical sales role
  • Experience in finance and accounting software industry preferred - Financial reporting, close management, corporate performance management, SOX, Audit, Internal controls, management reporting
  • Experience working with customers to redesign business processes levering new technologies to achieve positive business outcomes
  • Proven ability to design and deliver highly effective demonstrations of complex business software tailored to customer needs
  • Proven technology skills, outstanding interpersonal abilities, and strong written and verbal communication skills

 

Education
  • Technical bachelor’s degree required or a combination of bachelor’s degree and experience in engineering, information systems, or technology industry preferred

 

Travel Requirement
  • 10-20% travel required between Office locations and to various Workiva clientele

 

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
  • Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely, not in a Workiva office.

How You'll Be Rewarded

  • Base Pay Range in Colorado: $176,000 to $215,000
  • A discretionary bonus typically paid annually
  • Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire

The base pay range represents the low and high end of the hiring range for this job. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, and capabilities.
