Director of Professional Groups at Workiva
Workiva is looking for a Director of Professional Groups that is eager to demonstrate their experience in building and engaging professional community groups. In order to elevate and inspire the members and sponsors of the SEC and SOX Professional Groups, we're looking for an energized approach to networking and building meaningful relationships.
The SEC and SOX Professionals Groups are two separate, but related, communities of accounting, finance, and risk professionals. Membership is free and these groups provide opportunities for members to network, share best practices, and receive continuing professional education. Combined, these two groups have over 10,000 members in 40 local chapters across the United States. They regularly interact with industry leaders in the accounting, finance, and risk industries including standard setters, regulators and industry luminaries.
The Director of Professional Groups is responsible for the growth and member engagement of the SEC and SOX Professionals Group including the formation of local chapters and recruiting local chapter sponsors. This individual works closely with SEC Professional Group Advisory Chairs and the SOX Professionals Group Executive Advisors to establish leadership teams, grow the membership base, facilitate meetings, engage local sponsors, and create value for members and sponsors.
What You'll Do
Plan, organize, and execute SEC and SOX Professionals Group events including the group's presence in various conferences.
Recruits and develops the Professionals Group community of members and foster communication among members on matters of common professional interest.
Recruits, supports, builds rapport, and mentors Professionals Group Advisory Chairs and Executive Advisors.
Manages Specialists from National Sponsor Workiva who are assigned to support the Professionals Group.
Establish and maintain a clear vision of the Professional Groups direction and develop tactics to measure progress toward achieving that vision..
Coordinates with the Executive Advisor from National Sponsor Workiva to plan and execute strategy, events, and other content in the Professionals Group.
Acts as a liaison and ensures alignment between Professionals Group sponsors, including National Sponsor Workiva and the Professionals Group Membership.
Assists to secure speakers, thought leaders, and other industry luminaries to contribute to Professionals Group events and other membership content.
Acts as a representative of National Sponsor Workiva, and local sponsors as necessary, for Professionals Group functions.
Protects sponsor interest and exclusivity at the national and local chapter level.
Coordinates support efforts from National Sponsor Workiva to facilitate Professionals Group events, engagement, and other membership content.
What You'll Need
Education
Undergraduate Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
Skills
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Self-motivated with strong propensity for action, results and continuous improvement
The ability to work successfully in a high-energy, fast paced, rapidly changing environment is necessary
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple processes, programs, and procedures simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines
Experience
8+ years of experience in developing professional communities, public affairs, marketing, or communications. Experience or exposure to accounting, finance or risk industries may be a plus but is not required
Meaningful experience in strategic partnerships, professional networking and relationship building
Travel Requirement
Up to 35% travel for quarterly meetings, industry conferences, and meetings with advisory chairs across the country
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely, not in a Workiva office.
How You'll Be Rewarded
Base Pay Range in Colorado: $138,000 - 186,000
A discretionary bonus typically paid annually
Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire
The base pay range represents the low and high end of the hiring range for this job. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, and capabilities.
