Do you want to play a role in global commerce?

The Director, Procurement will report to and work with the Managing Director, Global Operations in the development and execution of a procurement framework that supports the wider Prologis strategy and operating platform.

You will manage the procurement support across the business that will encompass the purchases that Prologis makes on a corporate level (e.g., travel, technology hardware, and software) and the multi- market contracts we negotiate for services and supplies for our properties. Additionally, the Director will be responsible for strategic planning and deliver cost savings through sourcing and negotiated savings to achieve maximum value and efficiency to leverage Prologis’ scale and buying power across the globe.

This position will oversee selection and implementation of vendor relationships, support procurement of products and services to ensure high quality, on-time delivery and cost competitiveness and will ensure that procurement processes are aligned to support a globally disbursed organization.

 

Here’s how to do that:

  • Develop a global strategy for procurement activities and processes that meet organizational goals while enticing and influencing change.

  • Identify and create a highly effective, efficient and energized procurement team to implement procurement processes to achieve maximum efficiency.

  • Oversee and manage aspects of the company procurement activities, including but not limited to the vendor management activities and relationships, service level agreements and contract negotiations.

  • Manage all aspects of the procurement forecasting and budgeting activities globally

  • Initiate and foster relationships with vendors (producers and suppliers), internal business partners, key customers and the global IT department.

  • Constantly assess market trends and conditions to guide for making strategic decisions, current, and future.

  • Own and analyze direct, and indirect Procurement spend.

  • Develop and manage short and long-term savings targets through appropriate sourcing and negotiation strategies for managing spend.

  • Create and seek to improve best-practice based processes, developing benchmarks and scorecards for continuous improvement.

  • Develop key metrics to measure vendor performance, provide appropriate reporting and transparency for performance and implement vendor management guidelines.

  • Educate and guide internal business partners on best practices for procurement and sourcing strategies.

  • Work with legal to establish and maintain ‘standard’ supplier contracts and manage contract governance activities to ensure full compliance to relevant agreed processes and timescales.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree a plus, in Business, Economics or a closely related field

  • Seven plus years’ experience in procurement, supply chain management, and financial reporting

  • 2-3 years experience managing a team

  • Proven commercial awareness and experience of delivering cost savings

  • Excellent contract negotiation, vendor management, and contract management skills

  • Strong financial and accounting acumen, with strong experience in budgeting and cost management

  • Experience in the REIT industry and an existing network of producers/suppliers preferred, but not required

  • Excellent communication, persuasion and listening skills, with the ability to build consensus with stakeholders across the business

  • Familiar with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements and understands standard contractual terms and conditions to mitigate legal risk

  • Change management or business transformation experience required

  • Experience in using current technology tools for procurement and financial reporting activities

  • Customer service mindset and a team player mentality

  • Demonstrated abilities to prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines with efficiency and accuracy
