About SonderMind

The need for mental health support has never been more acute yet frustrations abound for individuals unable to access care. With our recent successful Series B round of funding (https://tcrn.ch/3bXyvQW), our rapidly growing team is more prepared than ever to redesign behavioral health to become more accessible, approachable and utilized. If you enjoy a challenge and being part of a mission with big aspirations, SonderMind may be the place for you!

Job Overview

To build and manage SonderMind's company operations and infrastructure during a period of rapid scaling. This includes direct ownership of Business Systems, IT, Facilities, Security and People Ops, as well as partnering closely with Accounting and Legal/Compliance in order to enable SonderMind’s success and growth as an organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own day to day processes, operations and key vendor relationships and define frameworks to organize and prioritize workstreams across company operations departments
  • Define, track and achieve key measures of success for company operations by developing efficient processes and policies, implementing technologies, and hiring/leading individuals to success
  • Through proactive and reactive leadership and customer service, support SonderMind’s scaling efforts and maintain flexibility to ensure our infrastructure is an enabler of our success
  • Define the vision and plan for SonderMind’s company operations to scale, ensuring that we are meeting not just today’s needs, but that we are anticipating and meeting the company’s needs for 6 months, 12 months and 18 months from now

Expected Outcomes:

  • Within 1 month: In partnership with Legal Counsel and CTO, develop security and risk management roadmap and implementation plan for next 12-18 months
  • Within 6 months: Drive 30% reduction in turnaround time for key company operations processes - recruiting and onboarding, contract review cycles, IT support cycles, month end close, etc.
  • Within 18 months: Develop and manage process efficiencies that enable the company to scale headcount by 2x with less than 20% increase in Company Operations expenses

Gotta Have:

  • Experience partnering with some or all of: HR, Legal, Finance, Compliance, IT to build processes and procedures to support rapid scaling without slowing the company down
  • Strong judgment to evaluate risks and tradeoffs with what processes and systems should be centralized vs. decentralized in a rapidly scaling company
  • At least 10 years work experience following a Bachelor's degree, including direct management experience
  • Empathetic, service-oriented leadership style and ability to be relied upon by multiple stakeholders under pressure
  • Ability to wear multiple hats and quickly ramp up knowledge on new areas in order to make informed decisions and 'build for the future'
  • Contract negotiation experience
  • Ability to synthesize complex ideas and influence leadership to drive recommendations / decision-making that will impact company operations, risk management and company scaling

Nice to Have:

  • Relevant experience in a startup company operations scaling role. Exposure to some/all of the areas within HR, Accounting, Finance, IT, Business Systems from 15 to 150 people is highly preferred
  • Healthcare experience in a smaller organization (less than 150 employees)
  • Ability to create, teach, and use financial modeling and clear frameworks to drive decision-making
  • HR experience
  • Business software selection and implementation experience

Benefits:

  • Experience and Career Growth. You will be part of the core team as the company enters a major growth phase. We always look to promote first from within and everyone on the team is taking on multiple roles. We don’t know how to say “that isn’t my job.”
  • Startup Environment. From our great downtown location, to unlimited coffee and healthy snacks, to a 2019 Best Place to Work office culture, things are changing and improving EVERY SINGLE DAY.
  • Benefits. SonderMind provides exceptional employee benefits including covering the majority of dental, vision, and medical premiums. 401k matching for up to 4% salary deferred.
  • Stock Option Grant. We want all of our team to be focused on long-term success and growth.
  • Mandatory Vacations. We’ve read the research and it is clear – employees who take vacation are more productive, happier and compensated more. SonderMind has an unlimited vacation policy, but REQUIRES employees to take a minimum of 3 weeks of vacation per year.
  • Competitive Start-Up Salary. We all need to eat, right?

IN LIEU OF ATTACHING A COVER LETTER:

Please attach responses to the following two questions (no more than one page total):

1) Describe a process or program you implemented that successfully supported your company or team to be significantly more effective or efficient. What was your role, what was the outcome you drove?

2) Describe a time you were asked to make a decision or recommendation on something you had little to no knowledge about. How did you get up to speed in order to make the decision?
