Job Overview
To build and manage SonderMind's company operations and infrastructure during a period of rapid scaling. This includes direct ownership of Business Systems, IT, Facilities, Security and People Ops, as well as partnering closely with Accounting and Legal/Compliance in order to enable SonderMind’s success and growth as an organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own day to day processes, operations and key vendor relationships and define frameworks to organize and prioritize workstreams across company operations departments
- Define, track and achieve key measures of success for company operations by developing efficient processes and policies, implementing technologies, and hiring/leading individuals to success
- Through proactive and reactive leadership and customer service, support SonderMind’s scaling efforts and maintain flexibility to ensure our infrastructure is an enabler of our success
- Define the vision and plan for SonderMind’s company operations to scale, ensuring that we are meeting not just today’s needs, but that we are anticipating and meeting the company’s needs for 6 months, 12 months and 18 months from now
Expected Outcomes:
- Within 1 month: In partnership with Legal Counsel and CTO, develop security and risk management roadmap and implementation plan for next 12-18 months
- Within 6 months: Drive 30% reduction in turnaround time for key company operations processes - recruiting and onboarding, contract review cycles, IT support cycles, month end close, etc.
- Within 18 months: Develop and manage process efficiencies that enable the company to scale headcount by 2x with less than 20% increase in Company Operations expenses
Gotta Have:
- Experience partnering with some or all of: HR, Legal, Finance, Compliance, IT to build processes and procedures to support rapid scaling without slowing the company down
- Strong judgment to evaluate risks and tradeoffs with what processes and systems should be centralized vs. decentralized in a rapidly scaling company
- At least 10 years work experience following a Bachelor's degree, including direct management experience
- Empathetic, service-oriented leadership style and ability to be relied upon by multiple stakeholders under pressure
- Ability to wear multiple hats and quickly ramp up knowledge on new areas in order to make informed decisions and 'build for the future'
- Contract negotiation experience
- Ability to synthesize complex ideas and influence leadership to drive recommendations / decision-making that will impact company operations, risk management and company scaling
Nice to Have:
- Relevant experience in a startup company operations scaling role. Exposure to some/all of the areas within HR, Accounting, Finance, IT, Business Systems from 15 to 150 people is highly preferred
- Healthcare experience in a smaller organization (less than 150 employees)
- Ability to create, teach, and use financial modeling and clear frameworks to drive decision-making
- HR experience
- Business software selection and implementation experience
