We are seeking a Director of Onboarding to join our team and help us achieve our ambitious goals for our business and for the planet. Uplight is looking for a Director of Onboarding with extensive software implementation and team leadership skills to lead the Onboarding and Implementation team focused on two key products: Home Energy Reports (HERs) and Marketplace. 

A successful candidate will be responsible for working across the organization to plan, design, implement and launch multiple simultaneous Software as a Service (SaaS) implementations. As the Onboarding Director, you will leverage your SaaS implementation skills for the accurate scoping of software solutions and Statements of Work by working closely with the Sales and Customer Success teams. As new projects start, you will manage the successful design, implementation, testing, training and launch of the software. You will work closely with your team to mentor and develop advanced skills that drive high customer satisfaction, on-time and on-budget implementations, and deliver measurable customer results. Additionally, you will act as a customer escalation point, working to address customer issues, address internal challenges, and drive process and product innovation. You will also be responsible for building, implementing and managing the operational processes and tools to effectively run the Onboarding team. This will include resource planning, time tracking, profit & loss (P&L) reporting, documentation management, issue management and project transitions.

Our onboarding team’s background includes deep industry expertise/leadership, technical project management and software implementation consulting. We hire proven rock stars in these fields,
but we also make bets on promising up-and-comers that have shown success in other fields.

What you get to do:

  • Recruit, hire and manage a team of technical project managers and other resources as needed
  • Work with our Sales, Customer Success teams and customers to identify qualified opportunities
  • Ensure software projects are effectively scoped in terms of effort, cost and timeline
  • Be responsible and accountable for launching products on time, at quality, and within budget
  • Communicate clearly with customers about project status and risks, supported by Customer Success and Sales teams
  • Communicate effectively across multiple teams
  • Define metrics to measure onboarding success, and then drive improvement in defined metrics.
  • Ensure the onboarding team is adequately staffed to address the Sales pipeline
  • Build partnership with Product Management and Engineering teams to ensure that resources are deployed to implement defined scopes

What you bring to Uplight:

  • 5+ years of software implementation experience personally leading projects with 2-5 team members and $250K-$500K of revenue
  • 5+ years managing mid-sized (5+ resources) teams to deliver outstanding results on aggressive schedules in a cross-functional team environment
  • Extensive operational (or comparable consulting) experience, comfort working in highly ambiguous environments, and confidence and presence to lead an audience of diverse (and often divided) stakeholders to a solution.
  • Proven experience leading complex escalations through cross-functional teams, prioritizing the needs of the customer while balancing the impact on internal teams.
  • Patient, communicative, team player that is detail-oriented and has outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, tenacity, and fortitude
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to balance multiple short- and long-term projects of varying scopes with customers across the country
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technology-related discipline or comparable software development or implementation experience
  • Fluency with Windows and Mac operating systems and web technologies
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25%, as needed
    Experience working with consumer facing SaaS systems such as commerce or marketplace is a plus.
  • Experience managing teams across multiple physical locations and timezones is a plus.
