The Position

We are seeking a mid-career solutions strategy and marketing leader to report to the Vice President, Market Innovation to commercialize innovative new solutions in incubation within Step Change Labs, our innovation and growth incubation team.
What you get to do:
- Develop and pitch business plans for new solutions, including:
- Identify, analyze, and articulate value propositions / value streams
- Size markets and analyze competitive and regulatory landscape
- Support assessment of product+market fit and lead assessment of business model+regulatory fit
- Identifying prospects, including clients, personas, and budgets
- Develop and direct go-to-market plans for incubated solutions in development
- Work with Uplight’s corporate marketing team to create and execute marketing and communications plans
- Work with Uplight’s sales and sales enablement teams to develop sales, marketing, and regulatory collateral and conduct sales training
- Deliver thought leadership to key clients, partners, and regulators

- Product marketing and strategy expertise and thought leadership
- Strong quantitative analysis skills, including value and risk modeling
What you bring to Uplight:
- 10 years of experience in the energy, utility, or an adjacent industry
- Ability to build trust with utility clients across multiple levels/functions
- Strong interpersonal and persuasion skills
- A demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit and a challenger selling skills
Bonus Points:
- An understanding of energy utility business and regulatory models, including the ability to analyze ratemaking and its impact on utility earnings
- An understanding of DSM programs, distribution planning and/or IRP processes and tools, or wholesale power markets
The successful candidate is anticipated to have a bachelor’s, potentially a master’s degree, in business, finance, economics, policy etc, but they are not required, with a heavier consideration given to experience and capability over credentials

Salary Range: $100,000 to $125,000 (dependent on experience)
