The newly created Director, Cruise & Land Experience Operations, position will be the cornerstone of Inspirato’s experiential cruise charter and land programs. The Director will lead a team of experiential travel specialists to execute Inspirato branded ship, yacht, and river cruise voyages, as well as safaris and international land programs.

 

The Director will be the chief liaison between Inspirato’s charter partners, designing and collaborating on programming, entertainment, enrichment, and shore excursions for pre-cruise, on-board, and post-cruise programs, as well as programs that fall under our land experiences. Additionally, the Director will work alongside the Director of Experience Acquisitions to secure appropriate vendors, destination management companies, and charter/vendor partners align with Inspirato’s luxury brand promise.

 

A successful candidate will entrust a positive rapport with our members, our vendors, and our team by anticipating their needs and professionally communicating all pertinent information to the experience’s leadership team. Success will furthermore be a function of delivering on service excellence for every member and guest while managing to carefully planned budgets.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Chief Inspirato liaison for cruise and land vendors, destination management companies, and charter partners
  • Advise Director of Experiences Acquisitions and Director of Portfolio Management on future programs, new DMC relationships, charter partners, merchandising, and marketing
  • Execute end-to-end cruise programs including pre-cruise experiences, transportation, hotel block stays, on board programming, post cruise experience
  • Execute end-to-end land programs including pre-program experiences, transportation, hotel block stays, programming, and post-program experience
  • Ensure compliance with established Inspirato luxury standards for member communication and service recovery
  • Innovate efficiencies for capturing member manifest information, pre- and post-program communication, and shore excursion execution
  • Be the single point of contact and subject matter expert for members and member care for all of Inspirato’s cruise and land products
  • Onsite coordinator of all operations and logistics for each of Inspirato’s signature cruise and land products
  • Responsible for forecast and strategy for future Inspirato voyages and land programs
  • Recruit, motivate, and lead team of experiential travel professionals including coaching, growth planning, and training
  • Create, maintain, and update luxury experience SOPs, internal information pages, and website content
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments including Member Care, Marketing, and Portfolio management ensuring luxury standards are met
  • Design surprise and delight program for gifting, nightly turndown, and in-program events
  • Track and maintain inventory of supplies and products
  • Maintain overhead budget for individual voyages and land programs in order to meet projected P&L
  • Investigate cost saving measures for inventory management, staffing, and shipping logistics
  • Coordinate all logistics for shipping, travel, and staffing arrangements for pre, post, and in program execution
  • Site visits as needed to destinations, ships, industry conferences, and partner offices
  • Hold team accountable for measurable results and develop action plans for team if key metrics aren’t being achieved
  • Consistently and effectively communicate the company objectives to team through organized and scheduled one on one’s and team meetings
  • Regular reporting to the Vice President of Experiences and Executive on strategy, initiatives, and margin achievement
  • Build a professional relationship with in destination vendors and to ensure Inspirato service standards are met
  • Innovate additional services that will add value to Inspirato’s experiential travel division
  • Devise cadence of communication and structure for pre and post trip planning including hotel accommodations, shore excursions, and activities for all members participating in sailings
  • Maintain member manifests for each program

  • Extensive knowledge of standards of luxury cruise industry
  • Ability to multitask, coordinating several programs at the same time

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to establish and foster relationships with third party vendors that meet Inspirato’s luxury standards
  • Organized with a high level of attention to detail with ability to prioritize tasks

  • Flexible schedule, including travel days, holidays and weekends
  • Maintain the confidentiality of member information
  • The ability to travel up to 50% of the time including weekends and holidays

Physical Requirements:

  • The physical ability to stand and/or walk continuously.
  • The physical ability to climb, balance, bend/stoop, and kneel continuously.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years cruise operations leadership experience.
  • Hospitality and guest service experience.
  • General knowledge of luxury hospitality standards.
  • Prior leadership/management experience.
