The primary purpose of this position is to elevate and enhance the role of strategic planning and execution in driving the direction and overall performance of the organization. The job involves working in partnership with Fivetran’s executive leadership team in developing, communicating, executing, and sustaining corporate strategic programs to meet or exceed financial plans. This highly collaborative position will lead to the identification of clearly articulated and measurable Objectives and Key Results (OKR) in annual and quarterly strategic planning processes, ensuring the operational focus of the organization is working to meet a Long Range Plan (LRP) aligned with Board and Founder-level goals. The role will establish greater organizational transparency, accountability, and ownership over the Company’s strategic programs by serving as coach and advocate for Fivetran’s executive leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the authorship of foundational operating plans in establishing the responsibilities, processes, systems and tools, and business models, including the inaugural 3 year LRP for each of Fivetran’s Functional departments (Sales/Alliances, Marketing, Customer Success, Engineering/Product) and Business Partner teams (GRO, People Ops, Analytics, Finance, IT) 
  • In partnership with Finance and the ELT, establish Fivetran’s inaugural 3 year LRP covering annual financial results, the Programs needed to achieve the results within the benchmarked resource allocation by business area, expense category, and geography. 
  • Develop ongoing cyclical (rolling annual, quarterly, etc.) financial and strategic planning documents in collaborations with Finance and the ELT,, facilitate and consolidate information from business units, functional and cross-functional teams 
  • Evaluate and monitor the execution of annual business and operational plans across the company to ensure we are achieving goals and hitting KPIs and deliverables, stepping in to realign and drive improvements as needed by acting as a business strategy coach for all leaders
  • Lead the roll-out of an enhanced toolset /tech stack for operationalizing OKRs and making them visible and integrated into workflows across the organization 
  • Define and implement a process that educates and coaches the organization on OKR principles, process, and tools and empowers leaders to continuously improve authorship
  • Identify, prioritize, create urgency, build a coalition, and communicate the vision for strategic Programs
  • Oversee the delivery and execution of the Fivetran’s high-priority strategic Programs requiring cross-functional effort, coordination, planning and broad-based communication and alignment across several teams by the Strategic Programs Manager

  • Support People Ops in gaining and maintaining executive sponsorship for leadership development programs focused on leadership presence, trust-based communication, healthy conflict resolution, and strategies for gaining organizational alignment around corporate strategy
  • In partnership with finance and the c-suite, monitor, research, and evaluate expansion/acquisition opportunities, competitive threats, viability of potential business and capital partners. 
  • Help facilitate research and learning with business leaders to define best practices, and improved strategies based on peer companies in the marketplace.

Technical Competency Requirements:

  • Develop and understand financial statements (IS, BS, SOCF), financial plans and pro-formas, and key financial metrics.
  • Experience defining, measuring, and tracking key performance indicators, health metrics, key results, and quantifiable outcomes that accurately measure performance.
  • Experience in managing a complex organizational budget, with attention to excellent financial planning, forecasting, and stewardship.
  • A proven track record of designing, improving, and evaluating complex operational processes across an organization, including building and empowering teams to execute operational priorities.
  • The ability to influence, without direct ownership, inside and across organization boundaries, at all levels of the organization, using data and compelling narratives.
  • Critical Thinking & Problem Solving: The ability to take complex data and information and multiple sources, synthesize, and contextualize for multiple stakeholders. Make the complex easy to understand.
  • Planning & Execution: Disciplined approach to achieve goals, prioritizing time and resources to achieve organizational goals. Regularly compares actual progress to planned milestones and adjusts plans accordingly, holding self and team accountable for delivering on plans.
