The Desktop Support Technician works within the IT Operations Team to administer and support all end-user laptop/desktop needs across the company; this is a heterogenous environment comprised of Windows and Apple platforms, along with VMWare desktop virtualization. This role has a significant impact on assisting all coworkers with the technical needs they require in order to perform their roles and help drive the company’s performance. This role is an excellent way to enter the FWI technical teams with bountiful opportunities for advancement.

 

The compensation package will be aligned to each candidate’s experience and qualifications. All applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support and assistance to employees in the use of a variety of hardware devices, including laptops and mobile devices, and software.
  • Image/deploy new workstations, troubleshoot portable hardware, as well as peripheral hardware (monitors, desk phones, docking stations, etc).
  • Ensure workstations conform to company's specifications and policies.
  • Maintain documentation for workstation deployment/setup, document issues, inventory and resolutions within tracking system.
  • Troubleshoot basic workstation problems directly for internal employees.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic hardware and software problems using diagnostic tools to determine if the problem is due to equipment, network, or application errors; referring the more complex problems to senior staff.
  • Work with Network Administrators to help troubleshoot and address IT infrastructure issues.
  • Perform installation, configuration and support of common LAN devices (e.g. phones, printers, scanners, etc.).
  • Run audio and video requirements for company meetings, including wireless microphones, speakers, soundboards, content sharing, video recording, and livestreaming.
  • Support corporate officials’ workstations, software and peripherals.
  • Provides timely and accurate updates to company’s problem management reporting systems.
  • Assist the FWI security team to maintain compliance with SOC 2 and its security program requirements.
  • Perform basic systems administration in Active Directory and Office 365.

Qualifications

Requirements for Success:

 

• Experience or professional interest in corporate IT environments.
• Exposure to Windows Server.
• Experience with VMWare tools and technologies.
• Experience with storage devices and endpoint backup procedures.
• Experience with installing Audio/Video system interconnects and management.
• Experience running Audio/Video systems in a live setting.
• A drive to learn new technologies, identify potential areas for improvement and work towards implementing them.

 

Helpful for Success:

• 1-3 years of current experience in a position responsible for supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting desktop computers and laptops, in both Windows and Mac environments.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Windows servers and desktop products.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of network components, protocols, server and desktop technologies.
• Knowledge of Windows 7/10, Windows server 2008/2012, Office365, SharePoint, Salesforce and MacOS.
• Understanding of network administration and Active Directory environments.
• Knowledge of office phone systems a plus.
• Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining all manners of PC and server hardware.
• Experience with audio / video production, including live audio mixing and video input selection for group meetings, company presentations, keynotes, etc.
• Highly developed verbal and written communications.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously.
