General Summary

As Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for reviewing, preparing, negotiating, and recording business contracts on behalf of Music Brands (MakeMusic and Alfred Music). Additionally, you will be responsible for researching and communicating key legal changes in the EdTech marketplace specifically related to data privacy and compliance, as well as training internal staff on how the changes impact the business.

You will sit directly with the Business Affairs team, work in close collaboration with Product Managers, Sales Managers, and executive leadership, and report to the VP of Business Affairs.

Core Functions:

  • Review contract terms and conditions to verify that they are in compliance with data privacy and other related statutory requirements
  • Ensure the organization's internal contract documents are accurate and well-maintained
  • Maintain records for correspondence and documentation in relation to established contracts and those in progress
  • Provide advice and guidance to the different teams relating to contract generation and compliance as well as ensuring compliance throughout the duration of each contract
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with clients to ensure their needs are met
  • Create, prepare, review and edit all contracts as needed
  • Provide support and advice on new potential business opportunities
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes and devise plans to implement these changes
  • Monitor the ever-changing EdTech legal landscape including making recommendations on what changes need to be made to remain compliant through various resources such as research and educational opportunities
  • Train internal staff on changes in the legal and compliance landscape that impact the business
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and/or previous experience working with contract regulations related to data privacy, compliance and terms and conditions
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of legal terminology
  • Comfortable working as part of a multidimensional team
  • Exemplify strong attention to detail
  • Possess superior organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with shifting deadlines
  • Have strong computer skills and knowledge of common programs such as Microsoft Office and G Suite
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Capable of professionally managing confidential information
  • Exemplify creative problem-solving abilities

Desired Qualifications:

  • A passion for music or music education
  • Previous experience navigating the K-12 EdTech legal landscape

Benefits

Compensation:

Peaksware/Music Brands is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role is $59,524 - $99,207. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, and certifications.

This role is eligible for variable compensation including bonus.

Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
