As the Chief of Staff at Tortuga, you’ll work hand-in-hand with the Co-founders (especially the CEO) and the leadership team, doing the hard work of building a company. Your work will range across the spectrum of challenges a startup faces - from diving into significant strategic projects and board conversations, to chasing down urgent daily tasks that just have to get done. You’ll not only have a front-row seat to building an industry-changing business, you’ll be learning how to drive that process.

What you’ll do

• Provide leverage and support to the CEO and CTO in the execution of company operations

• Help executives maintain calendars and execute on their daily and weekly commitments, including challenging and rapidly changing schedules

• Support leadership team preparation for conversations like Founder Town Halls and Board Meetings, through preparation of materials and sounding board advisory support

• Dive into different areas of the business such as sales, operations, administration, and production - sometimes mundane daily tasks and “gotta get it done” emergencies 

• Maintain critical tools like financial models, budgets, and sales pipelines

• Communicate externally to business and community contacts through calls, emails, blogs, and social and traditional media

• Actively champion and passively monitor cultural and values-based initiatives; identify and address challenges to culture and values

• Travel up to 20% of the time, including internationally

What we’re looking for

• Required: 2+ years experience in world-leading, high-intensity professional environments such as venture-backed startups, management consulting, investment banking, or military operations

• Required: Passion for sustainability and interest in technology such as robotics

• Required: Exceptional problem solving and communication skills; willingness and energy to tackle any task, big or small

• Preferred: Experience with financial modeling in Excel 

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of our salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Tortuga’s total compensation package for employees. 

Denver area base salary range: $80,000 - $110,000 per year. Relocation assistance is available for out-of-state candidates.

This position is based in Denver, with the ability to work from home 1-2 days a week, based on business needs (100% remote is not available).
