We are seeking a Chief of Staff to join our team and help us achieve our ambitious goals for our business and the planet.
What you get to do:
Reporting to the CEO, the Chief of Staff is responsible for partnering with our CEO to define, communicate, and support their key priorities, and for driving alignment, clarity and accountability across the executive team. In this role you will manage key corporate initiatives, support strategic analyses, internal and external stakeholder communication and organization, special projects and partnerships and manage activities within the office of the CEO. Most importantly, you will create leverage for the CEO.
What you will contribute:

  • Work directly with the CEO to set the strategic direction and operating priorities of the CEO Office, Company, and Executive team.
  • Design and manage the Office of the CEO. Including workflows, prioritization of time spent, and execution of key priorities.
  • Enable rapid, well-informed decision-making for the CEO by filtering, aggregating, and organizing data from key sources and presenting in a digestible, unbiased, and actionable format.
  • Assist in the development and utilization of primary executive-level dashboards. Keeping a pulse on the CEO's key priorities and ensuring they are tracking to plan.
  • Provide decision support through research, analysis of information, scenario modeling, and clear presentation of considerations.
  • Monitor KPIs with an eye towards seeing the strategic picture, uncovering areas of opportunity and driving improvement.
  • Understand and own data/analytics of all CEOs projects, identify data stories in the correct way, synthesize comprehensive information to tell a cohesive story.
  • Identify conflicts (strategic, resources, etc.) and drive broad prioritization of company initiatives/projects.
  • Monitor, report on, and assess critical changes in the competitive landscape, global marketplace, and external business environment.
  • Conduct meeting preparation and research: You will be responsible for providing research and insight for all CEO meetings, as well as defining agendas and preparing materials.
  • Develop, author, and create presentations-- conceptualize, lead, analyze and present qualitative and quantitative plans.
  • Fine-tune Investor Relations with consistent updates and maximized network value.
  • Act as board liaison; work with CEO and CFO on board preparation and EA on board logistics.


What you bring to Uplight

  • Highly analytical, strategic, and creative thinker with strong business acumen and modeling skills.
  • 10 years relevant work experience.
  • 3+ years experience in venture capital, management consulting, or investment banking.
  • 5+ years leadership experience, both direct management and managing through influence.
  • Successful track record of leading & delivering large, complex, cross-functional projects under tight timelines and rapidly shifting priorities.
  • Deep analytical skills, you can pull data, understand the story behind the data and continue to dive into data to solve problems, without direction.
  • Executional excellence: You have the organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, high sense of responsibility, and generalist skill set to take on a wide range of high priority tasks in support of the CEO and executive team. You are dependable, and always deliver quality work.
  • Executive level communication skills: Your written (including decks) and verbal communication is compelling and precise. You can quickly take complex concepts and communicate them briefly, simply and persuasively. You've demonstrated the ability to communicate at executive or board levels of large companies or organizations;
  • Facilitation skills; you design thoughtful meeting processes/agendas and are skilled at chairing or facilitating meetings or sessions that make progress on high stakes discussions with senior stakeholders.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and a constantly changing environment and set of responsibilities. Ability to absorb ambiguity and produce clarity.
  • High initiative, self-starting capabilities; the demonstrated ability to identify and seize opportunities for impact in messy, uncertain contexts without direction or oversight; a self-starter with an active sense of urgency and impeccable follow-through.
  • Structured problem solving: Strategic thinking, in particular the ability to break complex problems down into component parts. The ability to lead on and enjoy both strategic and tactical work is key.
  • Emotional intelligence and ability to establish strong and trusting relationships with colleagues.
  • Mission and values alignment.

Salary Range : $120,00 to $180,000
In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the approximate annual base compensation range is listed above. The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package and benefits, will be determined by a number of factors including the applicant's experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity among our team.
